I’m pretty sure everyone who ever votes in the poll thread has visited mpsims multiple times in the last year, so i assume those votes are reading errors, with maybe a couple of people just screwing around for the sake of screwing around.
Confession: i read it wrong at first, looked at the results, and thought, "the barn house? There are posters who go there? Then i read more carefully and corrected my vote.
It would have gone differently at least in that I would have voted in it. I have no idea whether there’s a forum I’ve only visited once. I think I’ve been in all the active forums a good bit more than that, but I often don’t notice what forum I’m in unless I’m about to post something not acceptable in all.
I couldn’t vote in that second one either, because there was no option for “not voting in that one at least until this is clarified.”
It isn’t posted, it’s read; at least as I read it. And what I wanted clarified was whether the first of those polls really meant to ask which threads you’d been in either exactly once or never.
@Elmer_J.Fudd – clever. If someone answers “yes” to your poll, in doing so they are forced to change their answer to the first poll (or, just leave it, because it was true at the time). A bit like this “this sentence isn’t true” paradox.
(There are no “yes” respondents, yet. Logically, some of the responders to the first poll are either joking, or confused. The first poll has had over twice as many respondents, so it’s hard to know for sure what’s going on. Okay – enough – I’d better get to work!)
I tried to take the quiz. The second question was Kentucky. I put in Kentucky. It said I was wrong. It started giving me hints like K******y. I made sure I spelled it right. I did. It never registered as a right answer. I stopped the quiz at this point.
Not especially. I’m just not very on top of what shapes states are. There are a lot of near-rectangles, plus a lot of blobby states along the Mississippi that I’m not that familiar with.
I’m a little embarrassed to have missed one of the New England states, though.
I got 94% (three wrong) on the state quiz, though I didn’t think to look at how long it took. I know I whiffed on one of the Wyoming/Colorado pair, and on Rhode Island (it was one of the early questions, and I just couldn’t remember its shape), and another one I can’t think of offhand (maybe a Dakota).
Most of those forums I’m sure I’ve at least read in. A couple of them I’m not sure whether I’ve read within the last year, though I have read something in them sometime. The only one I’m sure I haven’t read anything in is the Barn Room.
I believe there were multiple options. You could pick the pointer or pick the text. I picked text because that seemed like a fairer test of knowledge. I may go back and try the other way.
I thought about the internet one. Certainly after I retire that would move up the list. I picked co-signing for a stranger that seems nice. Worst case I’m out a couple hundred thousand dollars. (and I may recoup that when the bank forecloses on the property), Most items on the list are out of the question.
My stepdad worked at a sewage treatment plant. No one had direct contact with sewage. The dirtiest job was probably sweeping the floors of the break room.
