17. The Emperor’s New Groove
I’ve never understand the Cinderella as a classic thing. Bland, passive heroine, even blander and more passive love interest, incomprehensible sidekicks, weak songs (“A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes” is a pretty song; the rest of them are agony). I just don’t buy it.
- 101 Dalmatians
9. Lilo and Stitch
Lilo and Stitch is my daughter’s favorite Disney movie, so it has a special place in my heart, at least.
4. Sleeping Beauty
13. Dumbo
Sleeping Beauty illustrates my point about Cinderella. The heroine is not quite as bland and passive as Cinderella. The villain is incredibly memorable visually and as a character. The three Good Fairies were fun and more interesting than those loathsome mice. And the music is by Tchaikovsky.
5. The Little Mermaid
21. The Jungle Book
Easy.
2. Beauty and the Beast
18. Robin Hood
Spoiler: Beauty and the Beast wins my bracket. There’s never been a better.
26. Fantasia
10. Pinocchio
Toughest call yet, but in a hundred years, most people won’t know much about Disney’s Pinocchio; they will still look at images of Mickey Mouse in the hat with the brooms.
- Aladdin
19. Peter Pan
But only because I have a weakness for these characters in any incarnation. I even liked Hook.
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
11. The Lion King
This is the toughest call of them all.
Don’t know how I managed to miss this one, but better late than never!

Hmm…definite preference for the newer stuff, here. I know it’s probably some sort of mouse-related heresy, but I’ve never been much of a fan of old Disney animated movies.
Ironically, for me, this round had -no- tough choices.

101 Dalmatians

Dumbo

The Little Mermaid (tough choice)

Beauty and the Beast
-
Pinocchio (You Bastard! The two best movies Disney ever made going head to head in round 3! Bah!
)

A very tough round. I can’t believe that Cinderella is still in this.

The Lion King
Sleeping Beauty/Lion King was by far the hardest choice if only because I’m not a fan of either movie. Dumbo won because it is at least and encouraging story. My pick for Emperor’s New Groove was mainly motivated by revenge for the Sword in the Stone.
The Emperor’s New Groove
Lilo and Stitch
Dumbo
The Jungle Book
Beauty and the Beast
Fantasia
Aladdin
The Lion King
Once again, voting in blue

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
You mean (debatably) the greatest 5-minute animated sequence in any Disney film ever?. As much as I like some of Beauty (she actually gets a USPS stamp this year), Pink Elephants is absolutely brilliant and ahead-of-its-time. It’s a nailbiter right now, but Go Dumbo!!!
-
Cinderella – of this pair, the only one I’ve seen
-
The Emperor’s New Groove
-
101 Dalmatians – I never saw Lilo, but the preview I caught turned me off of the film – judging from the support it’'s getting here, perhaps I’ll give it a try
-
Lilo and Stitch
-
Sleeping Beauty
-
Dumbo – gotta eliminate some of the princesses…
-
The Little Mermaid – but I’ve have voted for this one against most of the survivors
-
The Jungle Book
-
Beauty and the Beast
-
Robin Hood – I feel about Angela Lansbury the way Hal Briston does about I Love Lucy
-
Fantasia
-
Pinocchio – I’ve probably seen every segment of Fantasia, but never the whole film at one sitting
-
Aladdin
-
Peter Pan – when in doubt, I go for the older flicks
-
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – this last-listed foursome is the strongest of the “regional” brackets
