Apologies if my perfunctory search wasn’t enough to find any answers already put on the site, but in our caption competition thread in Thread Games, I’ve often struggled with getting images to display reliably for all users. The advice I’ve been using is to ensure I post a link that ends in .jpg but the linked post above is an example of it not working for everyone.
Would someone kindly post a brief checklist or similar showing the steps I need to take in order to post images without causing viewing problems?
I suspect that this is an issue with the image host, not with the SDMB. If that’s the case, there’s not much you can do beyond finding a different host.
I’ve started using Shutterfly. Yes, they are a business that sells you products like calendars and mousepads you can put photos on, but you can create a free account, upload images to it, and share them easily. I switched to them because people in some parts of the world couldn’t view my Imgur uploads anymore. I’ve never spent a dime there and have never had a problem. They even have a mobile app you can use to upload photos from a mobile device (again free).
Just suggesting it in case the other alternatives aren’t to your liking. I’m liking how Shutterfly works.
