I live about 23 miles away from where I was born. I was born in what was formerly known as the Los Angeles County Hospital and is now USC Medical Center.
So far it looks like my c. 3600 miles (University Park, PA to Oxford, UK) is only good enough for the SDMB bronze. On the other extreme, seven years ago I was living only about a mile away from the Penn State hospital where I was born.
Until recently an aunt of mine was living next door to the house in which she was born. I wonder if anyone will be able to beat her record: twenty feet!
He was born in the house he lives in now. Except for his time in the Army (WWII) he has always lived there,and he’s 80+yrs old. Now thats staying close to home.

Now the catch- the numbers are for Perth, Australia to Houston, TX. I was born in Exmouth which is about 300 miles (I think) north of Perth, but Exmouth isn’t on the database.
Thought I woulda had the shortest distance,I live 8 blocks away. Maybe I should move.
