The summary is basically that Wendell Goler played another one of those cropped videos to give a false impression of President Obama saying something he didn’t say. Essentially, he played a clip of Obama quoting a question during a Town Hall meeting and cropped it to make it look like Obama was voicing his own opinion:
Goler played only the italicized portion above, leaving about the part I bolded (where Obama reiterates that he’s paraphrasing a question asked by someone else), and omitted the part where Obama says he’s AGAINST “European style health care,” intentionally creating a false impression that Obama had expressed support for it.
As far as I know, there’s been no aknowledgement of this by Fox, but this is getting really old. There’s no other network that is as routinely dishonest as Fox. MSNBC might be lean further to the left than a one-legged drunk (and no, I don’t take the commentary shows on MSNBC seriously, or even watch them anymore), but it doesn’t routinely falsify it’s actual news reporting the way Fox does.
Is it just me or does it seem like Fox Noise has gone completely off the deep end since the election? Obviously, they were never “Fair and Balanced,” but the bias coud still fairly be limited to being called bias, in that they leaned but didn’t fall over. Now there’s no longer even the slightest pretense. It’s exactly like talk radio now. I think it might have something to do with the departure of former manging editor, Brit Hume, who was a righty, but not without some minimal standards of journalistic ethcs and professionalism. Now it’s just all nutjobbery all the time. My God, have you seen that Glenn Beck show? It’s just an hour a day of an unmedicated schizophrenic raving at the furniture.
So that’s my question – do any conservatives around here still give FNC any credibility at all as a news organization? Do yu still have any confidence in their bare bones news reporting? Is there anyone who thinks that Beck, Hannity, O’Reilly or Van Susteren have any intelligent or valuable insights? Or how about that rldiculous morning show with those two buffoons and the inflatable, idiot fuck doll? Does anyone ever feel informed after watching that show?
I think the only sane person left at that network is Shepherd “WE DO NOT FUCKING TORTURE” Smith. I feel sorry for that guy.
No, Goler cropped the clip to imply that Obama wants a European style heath care system, which Obama explicitly said he did NOT want in the part of his answer that was cut out.
So when Obama said he wanted “a universal health care system like the European countries”, it is false for FoxNews to imply that he wanted a European health care system.
"Do any intelligent conservatives take Fox News seriously?’ Sure. The caricatures presented by the SDMB, not so much.
Yes, he did say that, as Captain Amazing’s quote makes clear. Obama said, specifically, that he wants a universal health care system like the Europeans.
Whatever. You people are being stupid on purpose, and succeeding.
Regardless of whether you understood that he was reading, Goler still cut out the part where Obama said he was OPPOSED to European style health care, leaving the impression that he was in favor of it.
Er, no, he didn’t. I just scrolled up to look at Captain Amazing’s quote. Obama said that he wants a universal health care system. Not a universal health care system like the Europeans.
