SHOCKING NEWS: Sean Hannity is a Lying Douchebag!

Well, leave it to Sean Hannity to edit the President’s words. While doing an interview for FOX, Major Garret asked Obama a ridiculous question, which Obama answered quite well. Well, leave it to Sean Hannity to chop the interview to make up some inane lie about Obama not knowing history and to basically someohow cast aspersions on the President that he HATES AMERICA!!!

Side-by-side comparison of viedo

Couldn’t these guys at least be more discreet, less brazen, in their own dishonesty? I mean this is an interview from their OWN “news” channel, fer crissakes.

Oh, good. We hadn’t had a new “Fox News is teh stoopid” thread in days.

Thanks.

Serves Obama right for taking a question from Fox.

Oh, please! What Fox did was omit a short boiler-plate comment about Obama being ‘proud of the traditions of Democratic and Republican presidents to lift the iron curtin’…whatever that means.

In other words, a comment that really says nothing while attempting to say something. It was probably cut for purposes of time more than anything else.

And based on the quote by Lech Walesa, I’d say that Hannity’s comment about Obama learning history has some merit.

I saw absolutely no aspersions cast as to how Obama “HATES AMERICA”.

Having said that however, I would like to thank you for giving exposure to the fact that certain European countries which were formerly under Soviet domination are now free, and rightfully thankful to the U.S. and Ronald Reagan for their freedom.

Are you suggesting that a sitting president should ostracize certain duly accredited news organizations based on their political orientation?

But, but what about, like, freedom of the press and all that? You guys are usually in favor of a contentious press when a Republican is in office.

Exactly, there should be one daily.

Can someone please transcribe for those of us at work?

He was making a joke.

Jesus dude, you’re a fucking laugh riot.

I wish people here would ignore Fox instead of bashing it; but even so, this is dishonest even by your standards. The “proud tradition” comment matters because the Fox reporter demanded Obama credit Democrats and Republicans with winning the Cold War. Obama did so, but Fox omitted it because it doesn’t fit their argument about Obama refusing to give Americans credit for their role.

The Walesa part isn’t as blatant, but Hannity’s comment about “learn your history” loses its sting if viewers see that Obama cited Walesa and the Poles, and also Havel and the Czechs, in giving credit to people of many nations and not just the U.S. and Western Europe.

In other words, while there’s a valid argument for giving primary credit to the U.S. and Western Europe, Obama made a valid argument that Eastern European nations shouldn’t be overlooked. And Fox edited that out to make it look like he just doesn’t want to give the U.S. credit.

I don’t understand why you seem somewhat scornful of the first part, and then happily point out the second part. Don’t they sort of say the same thing? Perhaps i’m misreading you on the omitted section.

And I suggest there was quite a bit of truth in that (barely) tongue-in-cheek [del]comment[/del] joke.

I can’t transcribe because I’m in the middle of a large project, but in broad terms the journalist asks, why Obama in his speech said the cold war had “ended” instead of mentioning how it had been won by America.

Obama responds with some world leaders who helped, saying that there were a lot of hands in the job. Hannity cuts that part and makes it look like Obama only said his followup comments, which undercuts his whole point.

SA is far too stupid to understand that, so that’s where his post comes in.

Based on the fact that Obama led off the answer mentioning Lech Walesa and Vaclav Havel, I’m sure he knows his history well enough.

edit: I see Marley23 made this point above.

RPTNFPIOKIYAR
Reminding people to not forget Poland is OK if you’re a republican

Any comment about Marley’s post?

Complete and utter bullshit. They cut out the part where Obama clearly states that, in addition to Poles and Czechs and others, Democrats and Republicans Presidents helped end the Iron Curtain. Hannity, as he is wont to do, cut out that part to make it appear (to those brain dead enough to believe the crap he spews) that Obama is an idiot for not praising Reagan enough. The part he cut out had the EXACT EFFECT of not disproving his bullshit point.

Utterly laughable.

Anyone who thinks that Reagan is the sole reason for the end of communism, the fall of the Soviet Union, and the demise of the iron curtain is completely ignorant of history. As Obama pointed out, there were many other people, and events, that led to that.

But this is precisely what many of the idiotic press tries to do. Take a complex issue (the demise of the USSR), make it easy for their slavering masses to “understand” (RONALD REAGAN DESTROYED COMMUNISM!!!), and then mock those who truly do understand the complexity of reality (played well in this example by Obama). It’s just another of the thousands of cuts that are killing political debate in this country.

I should also apologize to myself for wasting the last 5 minutes responding to you.

Sorry, this is a joke also? Please say yes.

Indeed. One would think that you’d have learned by now the uselessness of such action.

Under the new rules can I call Starving Artist a lying douchebag?
