Not only do I not know any of Ariana Grande’s songs, I think I get her mixed up with Iggy Azalea, though I don’t know any of her songs either.
The last album I bought was Dire Straits ‘Love over gold’ (in 1996.)
I don’t know any of the lady’s songs.
I couldn’t name any, but I’m sure I’d recognize a few if they were announced to me. Same as with David Bowie, FWIW.
Probably…my niece is a fan, and an enthusiastic singer. But I couldn’t identify any as hers.
While she sorta falls into the background behind the awesome singing of Jessie J on “Bang Bang”, it’s still a solid performance and a lot of fun to listen to.
They did a song together, you know.
I’m well outside her target demographic, but I do listen to my fair share of pop radio on my daily commute, and I know most of her singles. She tends to have pretty good videos as well - the video for “One Last Time”, for instance, is a Max Landis-directed faux-one-cut sci-fi depiction of an apocalyptic meteor strike.
Other. I couldn’t name a song but I do listen to the radio and wouldn’t be surprised if I recognized one of her songs.
Stangely, I know several Katy Perry songs but while I know who Ariana Grande is, I can’t name a single one of her songs.
The song is nothing much. The video is very well done.
I picked *Other *because there’s a chance I may have heard her songs without knowing who was singing. So I can’t swear that I don’t know anything she’s sung. I’m not even sure I ever heard her name before this incident - but then I don’t listen to current music, or much other music for that matter.
I feel really good realising that I rarely have to listen to pop music these days. I’ve heard of Ariana Grande but didn’t know any of her songs (I listened to the duet with Iggy Azalea that was linked above and I’m clearly not missing anything).
No, I’ve never heard of her before the tragic events of last Monday.
But as others have said I’m out of her demographic and I couldn’t name you a Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, One Direction or Kanye West Song either, They just don’t enter my sphere of attention.
Oh c’mon, that’s the exact opposite of threadshitting. Dopers are tripping over themselves and each other to make sure everyone knows they either
1- have no clue who she is
2- think her only talent is her looks
3- get off my lawn
I’ve known who she was prior to the bombing, but I couldn’t name a song of hers.
And after a brief and random sampling of her work…I’m good.
ETA: I though maybe she did that ‘Work, work…’ song that I loathe, but apparently not. Anyone know who that is (so I can focus my loathing)?
mmm
I know the name but I wouldn’t recognize any of her songs even though I may have been exposed to them.
She might have a great voice and it’s possible the lyrics may even be ok, as far as I know, but I simply find the popular singing styles in music these days to be quite horrible. It’s getting rarer that I find anything in the top 40 that I would voluntarily want to listen to twice.
That was Rihanna.
No, but I had heard of her since she posed in schoolgirl uniforms a year of so ago.
That sort of thing is big in Britain.
I’ve heard a song or two, just being curious after I saw her in a YouTube video. I can’t tell you anything about them, as I don’t remember. It was clearly not for me.
All I can tell you is that she does the Mariah-Carey-style whistle tone. (The video was a vlog proving she could really hit those notes, because someone online said she couldn’t. Yeah, she’s that type.)
I’m in the same boat as Leaffan. I spend a lot of time around teenagers, so there’s a pretty good chance I’ve heard something by her, but I wouldn’t have known it if so.
