Okay, can we PLEASE have a rule that people whose first post on the Dope resurrects a zombie have to explain what they were doing that led them to the thread?

I think half the fun of a newly risen zombie thread is the puzzled reaction of all of us to the resurrection.

The other half is the pure pleasure of seeing some golden nuggets of humor all over again.

Because I know nothing of writing software, I’m going to assert that it would be easy to write an algorithm, that would: 1) recognize a poster’s first post; B) calculate an arbitrary cutoff for date of last post that would identify a zombie resurrection; and iii) hold the post for moderator review, to be released when a moderator is satisfied that the requirement has been met.

Also, they could write the requirement into the Terms of Use, so it’s enforceable. EVERYBODY reads those, right?

Well,* now* this thread is getting silly.

(That said, I have no idea what HMS Irruncible’s post is talking about. Long Japanese colons?)
