At Judgment, I expect a fair trial by a loving God. I cannot reconcile my knowledge of a benevolent deity with the concept that one act at the end of Earthly life (suicide) is enough to cancel out a lifetime of thoughts and actions, and force an omnipotent Judge to issue a mandatory sentence of eternal damnation.
No, it is difficult to be damned, a man has to work hard at being evil enough to have God destroy one of His children.
I do not understand how you could feel good about yourself if you follow and worship a God-concept who would behave so immorally.
If all there was to it was to look it up in the book Christianity would be one religion instead of however many there are.
We’ve got saints, popes, Martin Luther and a thicket of theologians with divine inspiration and logical deductions that make important contributions to what is believed.
Maybe JOSH sounds like a bit of cultist by signing off with a “God bless you” all the time.
I wonder if someone used “Praise be to Allah” as their sig if people would be too culturally sensitive to label them a religious nut case in this way. Well, maybe on this board they wouldn’t.
In pchaos’ case, we’re poking the troll with sticks to get him to violate the rules enough to get banned. He’s already obliged us by starting a thread that got him a troll warning. Just a few more, and he’ll be gone. :):)
So apparently JOSH is reading from that changed version of the Bible that pchaos is always going on about - the version where all of the contradictions are resolved with a big ol’ “BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT, THAT’S COOL” disclaimer. Now, if we can figure out how the Illuminati are behind this, we can rope in Kozmik, and hopefully the whole damn thread will implode in a giant explosion of stupid, and we can all get on with our lives.
I don’t recall seeing that loophole. I just know that my pastor has often emphasized that the good folks who most strongly believe they are acting in God’s name should then be the most humble and the least certain, because it is very easy to be (with all good intentions) confusing their own wishes with God’s will.
Never thought I’d miss **Joe Cool **and His4Ever, but at least you could have an argument with them. The “Yeah whatever!!! :)” from the Blessbot are kind of weak tea in comparison.
Susan B. Anthony went just a little further with it noting:"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires.
