Do. Not. Seek. The. Treasure.

Well, ain’t this place a geographical oddity. Two weeks from everywhere!

I’ve been forgiven of all my sins. Even the one about that Piggly-Wiggly I knocked over in Yazoo.

Lots of respectable people have been hit by trains. Judge Hobbie over in Cookville was hit by a train. What was I gonna tell them, that you got sent to the penal farm and I divorced you from shame?

Consider the lilies of the goddamn field or… hell! Take at look at Delmar here as your paradigm of hope.

I always felt bad for poor Junior, doing his best to help his Pappy campaign, but Pappy always rejects his suggestions.

Junion: We could hire our own midget, even shorter than his.
Pappy: Wouldn’t we look like a bunch of Johnny-come-latelies, bragging on our own midget, doesn’t matter how stumpy.

or
in front of the radio station out in the middle of nowhere, Junior suggests he mingle with the electorate (the Soggy Bottom Boys)
Pappy: I’ll press your flesh, you dimwitted sumbitch! You don’t tell your pappy how to court the electorate. We ain’t one-at-a-timin’ here. We’re MASS communicating!

The worst being
" Thank God your mammy died givin’ birth. If she’d have seen you, she’d have died o’ shame. "

Junior is going to need a LOT of therapy.

Some people may not know that the Coens didn’t create the character of Pappy O’Daniel. There really was a Governor Lee “Pappy” O’Daniel and he had a radio show like the one in the movie. But in real life he was the Governor of Texas not Mississippi.

“Who elected you leader of this outfit?”
"Well Pete, I figured it should be the one with the capacity for abstract thought. But if that ain’t the consensus view, then hell, let’s put it to a vote. "

"This band of miscreants, this very evening, interfered with a lynch mob in the performance of its duty. "

That movie is nothing but a constant stream of quotable lines.

The colored guard is colored!!!

Oh, I am laughing at this thread. I think I need to watch this movie again soon. Thank you for starting this Mr. Montoya.

Yeah, me too. I caught a little on TV maybe a year ago, but I need to give it a serious look again.

Well of course it is. :smack:

“The Color Guard is colored!!!”

Yeah, look at me!

I thought you said you were innocent of those charges.

The best thing you did for the girls was get hit by that train!

I’m George Nelson!

Always a pleasure to unleash the brainworms. I’m just glad it didn’t get locked down right away as so often happens when I come out of left field.

More like Babyface Nelson.

Well Pete, I figured it should be the one with the capacity for abstract thought. But if that ain’t the consensus view, then hell, let’s put it to a vote.

Who said that!?

(Said every time my friends and I drive out of Walworth, WI.)
“And stay out of the Woolworths!”

(Damn I love that movie. I know what I’m doing tonight!)
