Do. Not. Seek. The. Treasure.

Where’s the happy little tire swing?

I had heard of Allison Krauss, but wasn’t very familiar with her (I think I could name one song she did). After the movie, she and Union Station came through the area, and recorded a live album and DVD at a local venue, over the course of two nights. I was lucky enough to be able to sit in on the first night for free. Fantastic. Probably the most technically amazing concert I’ve ever seen.

Cow killer!

I’m gonna kill you, Judas Iscariot Hogwallop!

Friend, some of your foldin’ money’s come unstowed.

Uh, ok, sir, but Merton Aloysius will have to sign with an X, as only four of us can write.

Delmar had all the best lines in the movie. Hoo dogies!

I especially liked when Everett admitted there was no treasure and Pete was seething because with the timed added to his prison term would make him 84 years old when he was released. Delmar takes a moment to work it out and then says with a bright smile, “Well I’ll only be 82!”

**
Pete on the topic of what he’d do with $400,000:** Go out west somewhere. Open a fine restaurant. I’m gonna be the maitre d’. Greet all the swells. Go to work everyday in a bow tie, tuxedo. And all the staff say “Yes, sir” and “No, sir” and “in a jiffy, Pete.” And all my meals for free.

It took several watchings (on CMT a year or so ago) to convince me, but I think OBWAT is the Coen’s best and the best movie of that decade (2000s).

You shall see things, wonderful to tell. You shall see a… uh… cow on the roof of a… uh… cotton house. I can not tell you how long your road may be. But fear not the ob-stackles in your path, for Fate has vouchsafed your re-ward.

Well I was lyin’. And the preacher says that that sin’s been warshed away too.

EDIT:

Damn, it’s a great movie. The ENTIRE movie is quotable!

Funny you should say that. This thread has me wondering if we (Dopers) took it from the top could we, without looking anything up, recreate this or any entire film line by line.

I know how to court the electorate!

I’ll start:

Tell me, O Muse, of the man of many devices, who wandered full many ways after he had sacked the sacred citadel of Troy. Many were the men whose cities he saw and whose mind he learned, aye, and many the woes he suffered in his heart upon the sea, seeking to win his own life and the return of his comrades.

I winged a census once.

Now, that’s a good boy.

Well, isn’t this place a geographical oddity? Two weeks from everywhere.

Favorite line:

You from the bank?! Pa told me to shoot anyone from the bank.
When I have a song I’m going to teach him to say that when people come up to the house.

I wonder how that worked out for him, considering that the posse didn’t hesitate to torch his barn.

.

“Truth means nothing to a woman, Delmar. Triumph of the subjective!”

Ulysses: You ever been with a woman?
Delmar: *Well, I… I… I gotta get the family farm back before I can start thinking about that. *

Oh, you can have the whole thing. Me and Pete already had one apiece. We ran across a whole gopher village.

Pappy O’Daniel: And furthermore, by way of endorsing my candidacy, the Soggy Bottom Boys are gonna lead us all in a rousing chorus of “You Are My Sunshine.” …Ain’t you, boys?

Everett: Governor, it’s one of our favorites.
