I swear this was a song that a girl in my 8th grade class ca. 1980 used to sing constantly and the annoying thing about it was that it got really addictive. I’ve tried looking it up online but I must have a case of lyricosis. It had a sort of funk beat (though I only heard it a capella from a bright but demented 13 year old old) and the chorus went-
Ashes to ashes
and dust to dust
you ain’t partied til
you partied with us…
and I think later there was
Ashes to ashes
and dust to dust
your mama ain’t partied til
she’s partied with us…
There’s some profanity as well. The ‘F’ bomb, and this about 1979/80 when I’m not sure who would have been using that.
Anyway, does it sound familiar to anyone? Many songs have ashes to ashes/dust to dust in the lyrics but I can’t find the “partied” lyrics.
