Do we need to do Spring Cleaning in the MMP?

Actually, the real question is: Do you do spring cleaning, however you may describe it? I don’t think I ever did, and I can’t recall if my mom did, tho I expect she has some sort of end-of-winter cleaning routine. At a minimum, I remember getting out summer clothes and storing winter clothes back in the day when our closets were too small to hold multiple seasons at once.

On the virtual side, I think we need to get some new coasters - the ones in here are stained and bordering on disgusting. Then there’s the dust bunny breeding program behind the couch. And at a minimum, someone needs to shake out the throw rugs - you can keep any change you find!!

Happy Moanday!!

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 87 and N.O.S. for the day. Spring it is! Cleanin’ lady comes this mornin’ and I have Vestry meetin’ tonight. I think I shall join in from the comfort of da cave via Microsoft Teams rather than go over to the church house. Sup shall be grilled poke chops and some kinda vegetative matter TBD.

We don’t Spring clean. Stuff like the blanket/quilt thingy gets put away, but that’s about the extent of it all. Da cave stays sanitary so I feel like we do enough.

{{{CupCakes}}} from last week’s MMP… hope the hip heals quickly. Prayers ascend. I shall also add you to the prayer list at church.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Growing up my mother kept a spotless house and when my sister and I became old enough to assist in housecleaning we had to meet her high standards or we would have to start over. I don’t think we ever did spring cleaning per se, but twice a year we had big clean projects which usually consisted of washing walls and getting rid of stuff.

As an adult, I don’t think I ever did spring cleaning; I did big cleaning projects as they were needed. Washing windows on the outside always occurred in April when it warmed up some. Now we pay someone to wash the windows outside; which reminds me, I have to call someone to get that done.

Well, it’s back to the grindstone today. I am going to request this Friday off. It’s supposed to be nice and I just need a break.

My Big Clean is usually around New Year’s or shortly thereafter. I don’t do spring cleaning, but at some point in summertime I also get annoyed enough to have someone come in and do a deep clean of the house, promise myself I’ll keep it this clean and organized forever and ever and things generally go to hell about two weeks later.

I’m up, almost caffeinated and wondering how to make myself less tired in the morning. I keep reading that it’s clutch to have something to look forward to, but it’s cold outside the covers, dammit. I also usually wake up around 4:30 or 5 fairly wide awake, but comfy. I fall asleep again pretty easily (within about 5 minutes), but when my alarm goes off I’ve fallen deeply enough asleep I’m groggy. Oh, well. I could have worse problems.

I put up my hummingbird feeders this weekend. I think it was mostly wishful thinking, but hopefully I’ll get to see some of the first arrivals. Those little things are absolute turds to each other, but I do love watching them.

Morning all. Heading to 80F today. My last piece of adulting yesterday was to renew my TSA Pre-Check for another 4 years, in hopes that I actually will be doing some travelling between now and 2025.

I am not a particularly neat housekeeper and my mom would have a fit if she saw it, but I do make sure the dishes are washed, the laundry is done, and the floors are swept…just not really good at putting things back where they started at… So spring cleaning to me is maybe an extra effort to do something I don’t want to do…like clean the baseboards.

OK, need to finish waking up, then off to Moanday shopping and the usual Jersey Mike’s sammich. May also need to gas up car. All y’all take care.

My housekeeping is along the lines of metal mouse. I don’t call it spring cleaning but I tend to do the stuff I have done since last spring. Stuff like baseboards. Today is the dentist for the final tooth crown installation, then allergy shots. And I had to take a vacation day from work for this. GRRR.

We don’t really Spring Clean, but since my MIL came this week, we did do a massive GI party. Does that count?

This weekend, I decided to use some of that massive stockpile of yeast that Mrs Magill acquired last summer and make some Italian bread. The first attempt was good, but the loaf flattened out. The loaf remained (mostly) loaf shaped for the second attempt, but would not stick to itself when I folded it. I think I may have put too much oil on it for the first rise. Any advice from more experienced bread makers?

talky - I put up out feeder last week. I love watching Hummingbird Thunderdome.

So they had me sorting. And off course there were multiple belt failures, but not my circus, not my monkeys. Happy Moanday!
And the only real “spring cleaning” I do is switch out the long sleeve shirts for the aloha shirts, and clean the outsides of the windows before the yellow jackets and copperheads come out.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s quite pleasant out there today. Weather app says “The next person to call it ‘liquid sunshine’ is getting fucking throat punched” and promises me 9C/48F all day and mostly sunny. I’ll take that as a win then.

It’s been a reasonably quiet day at irk, nothing major going on yet although the return to campus has been delayed until next week due to the need for more paperirk. I’m not complaining, I have become very comfortable working at home and I have not missed the daily commute at all. I know it has to come to an end eventually but I’m hanging on as long as possible.

Spring cleaning…never a big thing in our house. Mum kept the house clean and as tidy as possible, we had our weekly chores to do and were expected to keep our own bedrooms tidy. I have an intense dislike of cleaning although of course I keep the floors clean, kitchen and bathroom hygienic, and we keep ourselves very clean

One thing I don’t do much any more is dusting. I have always considered it a pointless exercise since the dust just keeps coming back. I learn to live with it, until I reach a point where I can’t, then I do something about it. Until then, you’re welcome to come and write your name in it. OK, so it’s not that bad, but you get the idea.

Big day for us over here, lots of non-essential places are opening up again today. I’m off to the gym this afternoon, it’s a new place and I need to collect an entry fob thing so I’ll do that later (good excuse to log off from work early) and have a nose around the place. I still have a gym membership elsewhere but since neither of them will charge anything until next month, I have time to decide which one I’m keeping and which one will be binned.

CupCakes sorry to hear about the hip, wishing you the speediest recovery!

Morning, everyone. Laved, shaved and ready to start hybrid teaching this week. Why the new schedule starts Wednesday instead of today I have no idea. Barely any of my seniors have elected to return to in-person instruction. With only 6 weeks left in the school year they’ve decided to ride it out on-line and I don’t blame them.

Foggy morning with predicted cloud cover most of the day. Got new planters installed and ready for flowers, which I shall procure later this week. That was always the tradition around our house more than Spring Cleaning - Spring Planting. Well, that and the semi-annual clothing/bedding swap out.

Have a wonderful and productive week!

Mornin’ all. The city came through with the permit for my installation, but now the weather is misbehaving. I’m not using a hammer drill on a ladder in the rain. The place opens on Thursday, and (YAY!) I’m getting my second jab on Tuesday, so hopefully it won’t hit me too hard so’s I can get it done.

Got some small gigs lined up, enough to pay rent and utilities for my shop, but not enough to pay me a salary. Maybe once summer rolls around and more people have gotten the vax, we’ll get some tourists to the area, my stuff will start to sell better. It’s all very frustrating. Some days are better, but I’m feeling rather defeated. I’ve been in business for almost 15 years and really don’t want to have to close the doors. Oh well, something will happen, it always does.

But!!! Enough feeling sorry for myself.

Stay safe, everyone!

Probably the closest thing I do to spring cleaning is de-leavening for Passover, my house should feel fresh and clean now, but it doesn’t …I has a blurf .

{{{cupcakes}}} I am so sorry to hear that you’re injured. Let us know if you’d like animal pictures or funny videos sent to your attention. I am keeping good thoughts for you.

Wizard I don’t think your MiL counts…

I don’t spring clean. In the Before Times, I had a housekeeper come every week and they kept the house very neat and clean for me. During the endless Now, no house help and entropy is winning. I don’t like it, but all I can do is my little bit at a time.

Today 'Beamette’s treatment starts. We should leave in a few hours for an afternoon check in.

Take care everyone.

Change the blanket on the bed and put away the humidifier is about the extent of “spring cleaning” for me. Roomba takes care of most of the crumbs and fur (4-leg and 2-leg sources!) on the floors, but I do break out the vacuum cleaner now and then to get cobwebs and into corners. I seem to have an extremely industrious spider near the front door, and it seems to nip outside when I come round to de-web. One of these days, I’ll catch it. :spider:

On the colon front, I’m healed up enough to go back to my food bank gigs. We had 295 families come through in one hour on Friday.

Good morning, all. I don’t do spring cleaning, but I try to tackle one major pain-in-the-ass big clean per month. This month, as in right now, it’s cleaning the stovetop, the overhead microwave, and the front of the range. Which sounds kind of wimpy when you type it out, but in practice it’s a giant pain.

First, clean the microwave inside and out, which isn’t too big of a deal. Then, remove the big stovetop grates and put them into a plastic container I bought just for this purpose, fill container with scalding water and Mr. Clean. While they and the range knobs soak, I attack the burnt-on crud on the glass stovetop with a razor blade. Then I scour the grates with a steel brush and put them out to dry. Then I clean the entire exterior and front of the stove with a de-greasing cleaner, followed by a polishing with stainless steel polish. Then the glass bits get polished with Sprayway. Then I line the top of the stove with aluminum foil so that 95% of the cooking grease and crud ends up on the foil and not on the stove. Then replace the grates and cooking knobs.

Right now I’ve reached the point where everything’s polished and I just have yet to do the aluminum foil lining. I hate this job.

Evening all.

((Cupcakes)) heal fast!

I don’t spring clean, I just keep things ticking over then move house every few years… Not intentionally, it just seems to happen.

Stuff is opening up around here today- not that it’s making any difference to me; the park was very quiet compared to what it has been when I went out at lunchtime today. About it. I’ll give things a few weeks to calm down before heading out new places, in my unstabbed state.

Sorry to hear about your hip Cupcakes. Don’t do that again!

Cleaning? What’s that?

Srsly, we try to keep the floors mostly swept, vacuumed and mopped, and cobwebs off the walls and ceiling, but dust? It is to laugh. Our house was built in 1895, or 1897. TPTB can’t even agree on when. It has all the air-tight properties of a sieve. And we have stuff! I am obsessive about putting things back where they came from but I live with someone who isn’t. And of course, we have two small dogs, who don’t care. At all. Who has time to dust?

Anyway, today we’re heading back to central Orygun to work on our basement over there. Hopefully some burglars will come and clear this house out while we’re gone. The contents of this house are easily worth $19 or $20.

I discovered last night that I neglected to renew the registration on the flying toaster (my Scion XB). It was due in January. I’m gonna try to do that online.

Later

Roxy has been returned to her maternal unit. FCD is somewhat bummed. The doc said he’s got really bad arthritis and both knees are shot. But before he’ll do surgery, he wants FCD to go back and see the surgeon who did his back for… reasons. I wasn’t there, so I don’t know the details. I just know we’ve got to drive to Baltimore on May 3 and I guess after that, we’ll see about knee replacement. In the interim, the doc told him to use his walker all the time. Yeah, that’ll happen. I guess it’s my job to remind him. No, I don’t nag. I remind. :stuck_out_tongue:

We’re letting Chaptico deli make supper since FCD wants fried chicken. I’m not sure what I’ll get - I’ll figure something out. And I’m hoping for an early night. Last night I kept waking and checking the time - as if I couldn’t trust my alarm or something. Weird. Anyway, I’m tahred!!

If cleaning out a closet because of a roof leak counts, then yes.

Happy Moanday! My laptop has bad hardware :rage: so they have to send it to Texas. I live near computer giants, but they have to send it to Texas? I may get it back Friday. Repairs should be free.

I don’t spring clean because I do the big cleaning as it comes up and pretty much do a continual round for drawer- cupboard-closet weeding and reorganizing. And it’s just me…in an apartment.

I’m having a hard time replying to your posts but will get it figured out eventually. Hugs to all.
