Do we need to do Spring Cleaning in the MMP?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today, so cleaning. it was a touch chilly when I took Gordie out this morning.

I read that as 12054F, and was like "Did she move to Alderaan?

and thanks for the reminder to defrost tonight’s pig.

: ear perk up :
Congrats on the new FairyChatMunchkin!

Congrats on grandbaby number 2, FCM! I hope all goes well.

I received my jab yesterday and it was Moderna. I should have had the tech jab my right arm because my left arm has been bothering me for a good while now, enough that it wakes me at night. On the other hand, I guess one sore arm versus two is probably better.

Anyway, other than a sore arm, which was already sore, I haven’t noted any other ill effects.

I hope you’re feeling better, nellie.

The plan is to go for a drive today, but the husband wants to come and he likes to sleep late most of the time. So, we’ll see how it goes.

Between plants, pound-in edging, garden hose reels, a “small” grocery run, and some other purchases, it’s been an expensive weekend. Good thing tomorrow is payday, lol! Seriously, when did garden hose reels get so damn expensive?

We’ve had the plastic box type for years and they NEVER worked right. The hose guide was a joke and the handles broke years ago. So, for years now, we’ve had these stupid broken boxes and the hose was never inside them. Last summer I bought new hoses, but the husband never hooked them up. Once we get the new reels, I’ll hook up the new hoses. I bought two of these Hose Reel. I hope they last for a good while. I have 100-foot hoses, so this should be plenty of space for the hose. I much prefer the tidier look of the hose being in a box, but they’re all plastic and just not worth the money.

It reached 80 degrees yesterday! That is way too warm for this time of year in the ol’ PNW. I don’t mind the sunshine, but we can ramp it back down to 70-degrees or thereabouts and I’ll be happy. Today is supposed to be the same, maybe slightly warmer.

I got most of my flowers and plants in the ground yesterday. Just a few more to plant, I need to decide where I’m going to put them. Also, I had planned on picking up a few bags of mulch for the small beds I’m working on, but the idea of pushing around one of those heavy-duty flatbed carts while in the crowded store while looking for a handsaw just didn’t appeal to me. It took me forever to even find the damn thing. I finally found a hand pruning saw which will cut through 10 inches which is about the width of the tall part of the stump I need to cut down. I was hot too. If don’t end up going for a drive, I may pick some up today.

Think I’m going to finish my coffee and get the kitchen tidied up. I hate a messy kitchen.

Good morning!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and have a warm little dog snoozing on my lap. <3 Not a whole lot planned for the day other than the usual Sunday chores.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. Went to bed about 11:30pm and stayed in until after 9am, so guess I was tired. Was going to referee a soccer game this afternoon, but somebody else volunteered, so that is fine by me, this will be more of a day of rest. Do need to empty the dishwasher so I can commence filling it back up again and do the kitchen cleaning I have been postponing for a couple of days, but nothing big. Weather is clear and going to be in the mid-60’sF all day, so that is nice.

Taters, I use those types of hose reels, they last just fine, the problems is the extra connection between house and hose they have can be…undependable…at times, and hauling the hose back up in an even way can be difficult (at least for me), but they’ll stick around for awhile.

Lucky, of course you’ll be greatly daring; you’re the luckiest human ever ( teelabrown is a character from Larry Niven’s Ringword series, bred by aliens over centuries to be the luckiest person ever). And 85F sounds pretty good; we probably won’t see that here until May.

FCM, good luck with the moving, and let FCD do the supervising; no falling allowed.

OK, need to think about cleaning myself up for the Sunday Dinner sojurn to Logan’s Roadhouse for the grilled meatloaf. All y’all have a good Sunday now.

Hasn’t been a problem. He filled some boxes with desk stuff, while seated. I moved them all from the shop to the house. SIL brought his brother, so we have 2 strong young men to do the heavy lifting. All that remains is to get the desk moved. FCD is in his recliner - he hates that he can’t do anything, but once the furniture is in place, he’ll have plenty to do while seated.

Chaptico Deli will be bringing lunch - fried chicken, JoJo fries, mac-n-cheese, slaw, and beans. Small price to pay for all the work they’re doing.

I woke up with the fever gone and am feeling human again, albeit a little weak. Still, overjoyed to be back amongst the never-quite-normal human race again!

Today would have been my mother’s 100th birthday. Mumpers, you’d have liked her, I know. She was sweeter than I am, and though feisty, she never said a negative word about anyone. If someone was a seriously difficult or bad person, she’d say sadly, “Well, he had problems.”

I realize now how short a time 100 years really is.

Why did no one tell me today was going to be pork day? You’re all feasting on pig, and I have none in the joint. (That joke’s for you, BooFae.) I haven’t thought as far as dinner yet. I don’t think I’m up for a walk to the store, but we’ll see later. Maybe I’ll splurge and order a pizza.

FCM, somehow I think the tremendous amount of work you do before most of us have brushed the cobwebs from our brains each morning is a pretty good sign you’ll be wrangling those grandkids with ease. I know it’s impossible not to worry about your daughter, but since she’s in good health and getting excellent medical care, you don’t need to worry.

MetalMouse, when traveling through Mississippi a couple years ago, my sister and I stopped at a diner, where she ordered meatloaf and was asked, “Grilled or fried?” That was the first I’d ever heard there were choices other than “Baked or reheated?” Southerners have some delicious variations! Oh, and I got a kick out of the city name of Arab, Alabama. Had to look up the origins on Wiki.

Taters, good luck with the stump. That sounds like zero fun, but planting flowers sounds wonderful.

FCM, I’m a little south of San Jose, California. Our farmers’ markets run throughout the winter here.

I’m back and I bought: Italian roma beans, baby bok choy, broccolini, long Asian eggplants, and mushrooms. Tonight we’ll have stir-fried chicken and veg.

Not much in the way of side effects so far, except maybe tiredness (slightly difficult to tell that from Nyquil carryover). Minor swelling and warmth at the injection site.

All the furniture is assembled and in place in the new office. FCD needs to figure out some of the computer hookups, but at least one of his machines is on line and his printer is connected. Our helpers have just left and my sweetie and I are about to go to DQ just because.

I’ll have Roxy all week - SIL will drop her off, then I’ll take her to Daughter at school in the afternoon. So I’ll have a couple of hours in the morning to myself and relatively early afternoons.

We had some leftover sausage gravy. I made the Spousal Unit grits, scrambled eggs, a (leftover) biscuit (upon which she put on jam), and the gravy for breakfast. Neither of us could believe she ate almost all of it. She really liked it. For me, I had a three-egg omelette with sausage and cheddar cheese, plus the last bit of the gravy on top.

Mrs. L.A. says she needs to ask me to make grits more often.

Well, I got the damn stump cut down and dug out the ground. . What a job! I still have some roots left in the ground that I’m going to need to dig up, but the major part of the job is done (I hope). Now, it’s just digging around and pulling and chopping remaining roots out.

The drive has been put off. Between the husband’s late sleep and me getting wrapped up in trying to get that damn stump out, we just decided to bag it. I dunno, we make take a short drive later and pick up a frosty treat. We don’t really need to go out to get it, because I have some tasty strawberry ice cream in the freezer, but it would get us out of the house.

I am glad you’re feeling a little better, nellie.

Still not feeling any real side effects from the Moderna shot, other than a sore arm. I haven’t noticed any redness or swelling at the site of the injection. At any rate, I hope the sore arm is the extent of my experience with side effects. We shall see.

So, looks like I’ll do some yard work and a little laundry and thus my weekend wraps up.

So, feeling better, my mind naturally went to, “Maybe I’ll go for a walk after all! No sense slacking on such a beautiful day!” I decided to mend some books and do a couple of small projects first. Now I’m feeling shaky, so no walk. But I can sit on the balcony and enjoy the woods and the happy shouts of children in the park.

FCM, love how you still call him your sweetie. Of course, swampy means “sweetie” when he says “OYKW.” Whadja get at DQ?

flyboy, clearly the way to a woman’s heart is through her grits.

taters, stump removal deserves a cocktail and time with feet up.

Spousal unit got a 'nanner split and I got a drumstick blizzard. I’ve moved all the stuff to be stowed in the new office into the dining room. When he starts to put it all back together, I’ll tote everything in one at a time to be unloaded and put away. But for now, he’s napping - it’s been a rough day.

And I see by the time that I need to feed Higgs. Poor starving puppeh…

Well, I was going to mow the lawn for the first time this year, but the mower has a flat tire, it hisses when I pump it up. I’m not sure how long this mower will survive, I bought it from a friend and I think it’s older than I am, it’s at least from the mid 70’s. So I don’t know that buying a new tire for it is gonna be worth it, I think I’ll try some of that fix-a-flat goo stuff.

Hah, “through her grits.”

Perhaps to fire up the grill and make a burger. Still a little chilly, though.

I try to avoid my laptop on weekends, but I had to come in and say congratulations, FCM, to you and your family! I’m so excited for you guys!

Definitely more tired than I would expect, and caffeine isn’t helping much. Right shoulder is now a bit sore (not as bad as if I’d had a tetanus shot).

nellie, pizza is good (my supper is portabella pizzas and zucchini - tomato casserole). Glad you’re feeling halfway human again.

Sunday chores are done (except for supper KP), so it’s almost chill time in the studio. See y’all tomorrow!

Cleaned and anpped. Gordie and Alex Catt merely napped. Got some bad news last night. One of the musicians form the local Irish scene past away last night. R.I.P. Gerry. :frowning:

Yay! And I’m also into feeling humans, depending on the human of course.

One of my faves.

Glad you’re unstumped, Taters.

Evening all. Had the choice of folding underwear or going to watch a youth soccer game, guess which one I chose (the laundry will be folded by bedtime, promise). Haven’t done much else for the day, just recovery time from the exertions of yesterday.

nellie, down here it’s pronounced “AY(like Fonzie used to day)-rab” instead of “Air-ab” when referring to the Middle East. Do the same thing with the nearby city of “AY-thens” instead of the “Ath-ens” like in Greece. Ali-bamans be funny.

FCM, glad job is done and that FCD was practical about it. It also feels you get along better with SIL now that you’re not sharing an address.

nellie, happy memories for the 100th anniversary. My dad would have been 113 if he had been immortal…sadly, we are all mortal. And yeah, my mom always baked our meatloaf, it wasn’t till I got down here that I met up with the grilled style.

Taters, glad the stump has been de-stumped. Now comes filling it in and getting it level again–the unspoken big job.

Vango, you’ve had better luck than I, mine lasted about 11 years before giving up the ghost last year. Hopefully the new one will hold up for the next 20-30 years (just hoping I hold up that long…)

OK, need to forage for some sustenance tonight. All y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, made and et late N.O.L./early sup, achieved nappage, cleanded the kitchen, and the biiiiiiiiiiig trash can got hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Oh, and steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’ in advance of men’s night tomorrow. All in all a pleasant day. Temps got into the mid 80’s which made me happy.
