I fucking hate April 15th. Not for the usual reasons, but more personal. On this date 5 years ago my mother passed. (Don’t worry - she was 100.5 years old, had been off warranty for over 30 years and went peacefully in her sleep.) On this date last year our youngest cat had to be put down due to congenital organ failure. She was Dee’s cat and she really took it hard, which cast a pallor over what we didn’t know were going to be the last 3 months of her life.
So I’m in a pissy, semi-depressed mood already and the day has barely started. Hopefully having some students actually in class this afternoon will pick me up some. Hope everybody else has a wonderful day!

Evening, mumpers! It’s still bright and shiny outside, makes me wish I’d got the chance to get our for a walk during the day but irk took over and I got far too busy. Weather app says “For something so bright, the sun is really fucking dumb” and promises me 9C/48F up to 10C/50F and mostly sunny for the day. I’d agree with that.
Last night was a momentous occasion in the Bumbling Buffoon Lockdown Saga, we’ve finally been allowed to do a bit of social stuff so I was able to go to a pub with my friends! We had to sit outside and it was not particularly warm, but we were out and being sociable! Felt really good to do something relatively normal at last.
Swampy I am sure somewhere amongst the shag pile carpet and periwinkle paintwork you could find room for some fancy lighting. It’s from a shop that’s local to me, so yes, I could have one of these in the house if I chose to. The shop, sadly, is just known as the pikey furniture shop, due to the fact it featured on a TV series about gypsies. They seem to have a fondness for gaudy furniture and this place stocks some quite spectacularly awful things. We walk past it on our way into town, and stop to wonder exactly why someone would need (or even want) a silver sparkly mosaic female torso as an ornament. Especially since said torso is life-size!

Quietly I’m sorry today is a bittersweet date for you, I hope the students make up for it in some small way.
Right…done with work for the day, I’ve been going cross-eyed looking at spreadsheets all afternoon, it’s time to flop on the sofa and do nothing of any significance for a couple of hours. I should probably do an hour’s workout or something but I just CBA today. Chillage instead, I think.

Good news! My laptop should be delivered unto me today! I’m so relieved! The bad new is I don’t know when. I really need to run to the store, and it’s going to be 80 today, so I want to load up on sun block and go walabout. I have to look into delivery alternatives that don’t require driving to the FedEx facility.

Lunch is noon to 14:00 at the Mexican restaurant. We’ll tour our new building at 14:30. Margaritas are 15:00 to 16:00. Hm… I think I’ll skip the margaritas. I’d rather get a jump on traffic.
RoxStar is down for a nap - which surprises me because she didn’t get up till after 9 this morning. But I know the sleep signs and she went willingly. She’ll get sugar-hyped later.
FCD ventured out to his shop earlier, but the walk across the yard kicked his butt - he’s napping now, too. I got him to look at walkers with big wheels and seats. He’s got your basic hospital-issue, 2-wheels, 2 unwheeled legs, and it’s a lot of work to use, especially for one with unsteady legs. And when he gets his knees done, he’ll need a decent walker. I hope he’ll let me order one soon.

I remember our Swampyfest in Seattle, Taters. Even though someone stole our camera, we still had a good time meeting all y’all. (I still think it was the bartender.) Hope the interview goes well. I had a boss like yours when I was in the navy. Soured any ideas I mighta had about making it a career, it did.

No way around it. I’m stuck here until delivery. A FedEx driver once told me my complex is toward the end of their route, so late afternoon, but that was 3 years ago, and I’m afraid to trust it. I actually hate when companies use FedEx and require signatures for this very reason. USPS won’t deliver packages that don’t fit in our smallish mail bins, which means a trip downtown the next day—a pain for those who don’t drive.
FCM, they oughta make walkers with tank treads. It’d make moving about outdoors a breeze, plus you could pretend you were advancing on a Panzer division instead of the garage.
It’s quiet again. The trucks we gave Roxy are VERY LOUD!!! And she loves 'em. But they’ll live in the basement. Pics and a video in FB, if anyone cares.
I ate way too much crap - tomorrow I’ll have to subsist on water and iceberg lettuce to make up for the cake and ice cream today!
The other plan for tomorrow is a run to the convenience center after the kid goes home. The rest of tonight is dedicated to chillage.
Hooray! It’s back! /hugs laptop/ I got a text from FedEx saying I’d signed for it and it had been delivered, which was confusing because I didn’t and it hadn’t. But as I was going outside to check, the FedEx guy pulled up and was glad I was home because he’d already said I’d signed for it. (?) Who cares? It’s back! And thanks to my external hard drive, I didn’t lose anything. YAAAAAY!!!

Students were just what I needed. Didn’t do anything but shoot the breeze for 40 minutes, but we all felt so good talking to different people (masked and distanced)face to (masked and distanced)face. I also had a minor epiphany while reading a book on my conference period about reclaiming painful spaces, words, and the like. So that’s going to be my drive for a bit - to reclaim some of my Happy Places. AND being back on campus means my therapist is just a building away any afternoon.

Got the second jab today, swung through the office supply store for some cardstock for my current project (the one in the old town I lived in actually undercut da Jungle on price for what I got), picked up some groceries and took Nelson to the dog park.
