Dude, I don’t know what I did to piss in Thor’s cornflakes, but EVERY TIME I hit the pass between Newport and Ashville a thunderstorm hits. It could be clear skies the whole way, as soon as I’m east off Newport… BOOM!
Glad to hear. Next time you’re on FB send me a message so I can match
‘names’ and ‘faces’. Preferably something sarcastic or slightly tiddly. Thanking you in advance. I’ll try to return the sarcasm or tiddlies.
And, to be fair, there are a fair number of boos who wander in and out of here.
Evening all. Soccer game has been coached and refereed (at the same time). Girls won 3-0 and are really improving. Gave them t-shirts with the team name (Rainbow Girls) on it to many squeals of approval. Subway took care of my hungry for the evening, so readin’ and internettin’ are on the agenda.
Wizard, I join in the acclamation for your bread loaf. Now for some fresh baked ham and cheddar cheese…
red, congrats on jab #2. And getting your numbers back to normal.
nellie, glad the laptop made it back in good condition.
OK, a good night to everyone and catch you all on Firday.
{ runs by, snags 1/4 loaf, sprints off triumphantly }
Oh, that took me far too long.
I have fond memories of the dessert bar at my college dorm cafeteria. Instant pudding, Jell-O cubes, the usual … and serve-yourself all-you-can-eat sprinkles. I saw the smiling face of God that moment I first walked in.
My friends were super amused that my dessert the first few days was … a small(ish) bowl of sprinkles. Just sprinkles.
I’m perfectly happy to accept any MMPers on FB. You can route through FCM or BBB if we have them in common, or hunt up someone with my SDMB handle as her first name, living in Sacramento, CA. Just please send a message along with the friend request so I know who you are.
Manglement seems to be sharpening the hair lately, and I really need to dive into the “find something better” quest. When even janitorial work seems like it would be an improvement…
Nettie if I have any regrets from my professional life (spoiler: I do), a big one is how long I waited to look for work elsewhere. It can’t hurt to look and it sounds like it’s time to start polishing off the resume.
My friendly pair of angels … uh, cleaning ladies … are coming tomorrow. Knowing they’d clean up the kitchen for me, I forced myself to make dinner (otherwise I’d have been too tired to bother) and am feeling rather content now with a full belly of ham, potatoes, and some cheese for dessert. (So a deconstructed ham’n’cheese of sorts?)
I think I’ll sleep pretty well tonight. (Gawd, I hope so!)
Lawdamercy! I walked 10 miles. My feet are disgruntled and threatening to head to Tennessee for repairs. (The laptop, it turns out, went to Tennessee, not Texas, as I’d been told. Maybe it likes country music. I never acquired the taste, but I like bluegrass, so hopefully we can still be friends.) Good luck. It’s a long walk.
Yikes! I just got a notification that my operating system will automatically update tonight. Noooooo! This is the update that started this whole mess. Plus they just reinstalled it! I’d better go stop the install.
Wasn’t the idea behind spring cleaning, back in the olden days, getting rid of ash and soot that accumulated in the house because people heated with coal or wood?
Last night I made a Lemon Poppyseed cake with glaze and a Spiced Fruit and Nut Conserve, so I got out both the mixer and the food processor. Kitchen became quite the disaster zone, especially as it hadn’t recovered from lunch (salmon, rice and carrots). This morning’s a bit better, but I have to make lunch today, so the cleaning continues.
Already ordered Saturday night’s dinner from an Indian restaurant. As they do not have outdoor seating, they will probably continue doing delivery.
As of Monday restaurants are allowed to seat customers, outside only, maximum 4 to a table. Probably we’ll partake, but it would be nice if the weather would be a bit warmer.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 55 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 74 and mostly cloudy for the day. Rain comes to visit again tomorrow accordin’ to TWPTB. I need to take care of some errands this mornin’ but otherwise I foresee the continuance of yestiddy’s slothfest. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza. Sallit will be ingested as well, cause that makes it a healthy meal.
I read all but retained little, so yays, boos, hugs, noogies, trouts, chitlins, and how you doin’s all around as needed.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, woe, bother, I suppose I should purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire.
Holy crap on a cracker! It’s 39-freekin’-degrees-F out there!! Who stole spring??? Looks like it’ll be another indoor day with the RoxStar. They left her scooter and 2 of the noisy trucks here - I’ll take them to the basement shortly (I need to get a fire started down there anyways.)
SIL will be dropping her off around 9 or so. Unfortunately, the convenience center doesn’t open till 9:30 during the week - I’ll take the trash and recycling after daughter claims her spawn this afternoon. At least I can break down the boxes and get things ready to go into the truck.
I had a reminder pop up on Outlook about going to FL. Even tho the reason sucks, I’m glad we don’t have to make that drive again. And the fact that our June cruise was canceled is yet another drive to FL (Tampa) that won’t have to happen. It has nothing to do with my inlaws and everything to do with that gawd-awful trek down I-95, then picking up 301 from Jacksonville to Ocala. If I never had to do that again, it’d be just peachy!
Bottom line - today is toddler wrangling and trash/recycling hauling. Good times ahead!
My first day off in ages, and do I sleep in? Nooooooo! Not even any special reason or irritation or interruption - maybe I’m just excited for the chance to sit around and do nothing.
Here’s hoping for an amazing day off of doing whatever you want, even if it’s staring at the wall, shoe!
nellie, I hope you had luck stopping the update. And that you don’t have to send your feet to TN for repairs.
Thank Friday it’s Friday. Both of the kids are virtual today, so it was delightful not to have to put real clothes on until just a bit ago. Teachers all got vaccine #2 yesterday and the Board decided it’d be simpler to just have everyone virtual in case teachers needed to stay home as a result of side effects. Makes sense. What that translates to is Dominos pizza for lunch.
Oh, my electric pressure cooker died yesterday right as I was about to make chili. That’s the second one I’ve gone through in the last three years. I use it a lot since it’s so darned convenient to cook beans from dried. I suppose I shall be looking for a new one and hunting coupons. I’ve been avoiding Instapots in favor of cheap knock offs, but maybe it’s time to hop on the Instapot bandwagon. My kitchen is still a disaster from the Chili that Wasn’t. I suppose I should clean it before work starts. Bleh.
Thank you everyone for your complements. The bread was delish (especially warm with butter), easy to make, and made a fantastic sauce delivery device last night. For those interested, here is the recipe.
I did make the following notes: (This is why I print recipes - you can’t write on a table1)
1 - I used 384 plus 128 grams of flour.
2 - For the first rise in the bowl, stretch the dough into a ball.
a- Lay the dough flat on a floured surface.
b - Pull a corner away from you and fold it into the center
c - Do this four times and shape it into a ball. This will stretch the surface.
3 - DO NOT oil the bowl liberally. I put half a glug of oil in the bowl and wiped the whole inside down with a paper towel.
4 - Before folding into the loaf, I sprayed the rolled out dough with water, to help it stick to itself.
5 - Remember to pinch each fold into itself.
Arose, after a truly terrible night of “sleep,” much tossing and turning and weird dreams, to it snowing on the lawn that needs mowing. FCM whoever stole your spring made al the way to Upstate NY and stole it here, too.
