Do you drink hot tea?

I like to brew fresh tea hot, and then ice it. I’m not a big fan of hot beverages. Except hot chocolate, but its gotta be really cold and snowy, I’m home, relaxing with a book, got the fuzzy blanket in my lap and at least one dog on top of that. Then, I will enjoy hot chocolate. Other than that give me iced tea (or at least cold/chilled) any time.

I am a big fan of the Bigelow Plantation Mint. Hubby drinks that powdered Nestea crap and I can’t even fathom how he can stand it.

Nice hot mug of tea every morning, brewed in a pot. Milk, no sugar. Usually a cup or two later in the day at work. My everyday tea is Tetley’s, but Twinings Earl Grey is what I drink if I want something special. I will drink iced tea, but only if there’s nothing else.

Oh… I’m Canadian. Does that count?

I have a cup of hot tea (Irish breakfast tea) on most mornings in the cold months, with a little bit of milk in it. I do not like iced tea (sweet or not) at all.

Hot tea doesn’t have the same feel or sweetness. I like my tea iced, preferably thai.

Oh, yeah, I take it back that I don’t like tea. I love Thai iced tea! I hate it that when you order it at a Thai restaurant, you get a tiny glass that’s mostly ice for like $3. It’s a ripoff, but it’s so good!

I like to splurge and just tell them to bring two at once. One is never enough!

I mostly drink hot tea at home, though sometimes I ice it at home. I put milk or half’n’half in it and sweetener. When I eat out, I usually drink water or ice tea. Most places don’t serve good hot tea.

I keep a pitcher of water in the fridge at all times, and sometimes a pitcher of lemonade or Kool Aid as well.

I love thai ice tea too. I could drink that all day if I knew how to make it properly. I drink one cup of hot tea every day. Either Tetley, Red Rose or Pg tips with milk and sugar.

Yes, but I am English.

It doesn’t brew as well unless the water is actually boiling, which it won’t be if it’s brought to your table.

I drink about 4 cups of tea every work day (unsweetened). I rarely drink iced tea and I never drink unsweetened iced tea, if I can avoid it.

I drink several cups of hot tea every day at the office. Spiced chai with cream and sugar. Earl grey (black). Starting around noon I switch to various others with lower or no caffeine: green, white, rooibos, mint, fruit.

In the warmer weather I drink iced mint or fruit teas at home but still drink hot tea in the office.

I drink almost strictly loose-leaf tea. Adagio.com has good prices and a great selection.

Apparently, most restaurants will simply fill the pot with hot water from the faucet, which is nowhere near hot enough to really brew tea, IMO. However, here in south of the US, we do know how to make decent ice tea.

When I say “Earl Gray, Black” I don’t want something cold materialising infront of me.

Though to be honest, I don’t hate iced tea, it is great on hot days. Y’all right about sweet tea though, it is pointless way to block out tea’s pleasant taste. I can understand sweetened coffee, as most varieties of coffee are naturally bitter.

I’m a race traitor. Even though I’m English, I only drink about 3 or 4 cups of hot tea a week - I prefer coffee.

When I was 17 I went to Texas for a vacation. I went to a fast food place (think it was DQ) and asked for a Coke. The women heard my accent and decided I’d want tea instead. Iced tea at that, which I’d never had before.

Imagine you’re expecting a Coke and take a long slug of your drink and it turns out to be this weird, insipid taste. I sprayed it all over the table.

I drink tea, I don’t drink coffee.

I like my new coworker because in our second day at the office she brought an electric kettle, and two boxes of tea in the third day  I haven’t partaken of her offerings yet, but it’s nice to have a kettle handy! I’m Spanish, she’s Romanian.

I love tea of many different varieties. Drinking some hot right now in lieu of my morning coffee. Don’t know why the urge struck, maybe it was this thread? I’ll often have a couple of cups of hot during the day.

I also love iced tea, it’s my go-to soft drink in all situations. And I sweeten it myself, lightly–what the South calls “sweet tea” is so sweet it makes my teeth spin.

I don’t like iced tea at all, but I will drink hot tea on occasion, with just a little sweetener.

I don’t do coffee, either. ick.

I drink hot tea constantly. There is a nice, hot small pot and cup on the desk within reach at this moment, and I’ll make another later this morning. When I get home this evening, I’ll make another, bigger pot.

I only drink iced tea in restaurants.

No. I prefer hot tea. Unless it’s 90 degrees outside (32 C for you metric sorts) in which case I don’t need any more heat.

I do admit I’m not a typical American

I don’t think you’re really understanding the situation. In certain areas of the south, If you ask for “tea” you’ll get iced tea, very sweet. Slightly further north you might be able to ask for “unsweet tea” and they might even serve you unsweetened iced tea without rolling their eyes at your Yankee foolishness.

In places where tea and iced tea are not synonymous, if you ask for “tea” you will get hot tea, and if you ask for “iced tea” you will get iced tea, unsweetened.

There isn’t anyplace where you would ask for “earl grey” and get something cold. Regardless of where you are geographically, “iced tea” is a particular type, orange pekoe generally. If they knew what you were talking about at all, they would know you wanted a hot tea.

In answer to the OP I have a hot tea less than once a month. I have a box of Irish breakfast tea that I put in my desk when I started 2 years ago; it’s half full. Basically I’ll drink very strong black tea when I have a chest cold and that’s about it. I drink iced tea several times a week. Spent too long in the south I expect.
