Look, you red fury mass of syphillated matter you mistake for a human being, you’re exactly the type of dick that makes it impossible for two sides to communicate. Here we are ina Pitting of some assholes that get their courage from anonymity (feel familiar)—a pitting that everyone here seems to agree with—and you clench onto an aside I made. Unless I sing every chorus of the “Bush is evil/war is bad”, you go into attack mode. Not surprising, really. And which would be fine if this is what the thread was about. It’s not. I wanted to support the pitting of the scumbags, yet seperate myself with other sentiments I do not agree with. I did that with a short aside. Now you can continue to draw attention away from the subject of the pitting, or not.
For me, I will resist the urge to argue the aspects of the war you brought up and save it for another time. But probably not with you because you’re a dick. Plain and simple.
Regarding your pitchfork suggestion, since you said “please”, I’ll give due consideration. But, perhaps you can send your wife or your asshole-in-training son over to show me how it’s done. I’ve read on the internet that she’s quite amazing. She can get it so far up the handle hits her throat and she can make it bob like an Adams apple. You and your mates have worked her well. That is the bad part of war, any war, absolutely. And it is the bad part of this war, as well. My critique was not one of content, but of artistry. It could very well be that someone could use the same imagery and have it be more effective. I was not objecting to either her content or to the overall point she was making. I give her credit for doing something, but, sorry, her effort is sophmoric. I’ve had opportunity to see many short, little films by people her age and much younger, and her work does not stand up, from a creative standpoint. Now that, I think has nothing to do with the jerks who went after her. They’re still scumbags.
If I could give this girl a piece of advice, creatively, it would be to not confuse the power of the photography she’s using with the power of the overall communication. That will mainly come from presenting her arguement in a fresh, riveting, compelling way. It is a common mistake. It might be enough for her to gain kudos from those who already agree with her, but if that is all it does it is a missed opportunity. My guess is that she would agree with that sentiment. Then again, maybe she wouldn’t.
One of the most powerful anti-war movies ever made, (if memory serves) never showed any bodies or blood. It was “On The Beach”. The pure silence and emptiness the crew encountered wherever they went, and their slow descent into despair, desparation and insanity was quite chilling.

I felt I should respond to both his off-bpoint, off base accusations and his childish playground ranting. I often find myself responding to such posters in kind, in hopes that they see the assholeness of their ways. As you can see from my very next post to clairobscur, simple disagreement with me does not trigger vitriol. Still, poiint taken. A better strategy would be simply to take the higher road, even if the tactic worked this time and the idiot did scamper off. I’m working on it.

While I rarely (read: almost never) agree with rjung, I feel that the folks who would attack someone else and call them ‘un-American’ for excersizing their free speech rights are perhaps not the sharpest tools in the shed. Nor do they seem to grasp what it is to BE an American. This isn’t a matter of whether or not the ‘cartoons’ were good or bad (I also found them wanting, even for a 15 year old).
Its not a matter of the message at all. Plain and simple its a matter of Free Speech…something that we, as American’s, are supposed to protect and respect with almost religious passion.
