Do you find Amy Schumer amusing?

For the most part - yes.

These. She feels overexposed, in a flavor of the month kind of way. I’d take her over Rebel Wilson and Melissa McCarthy any day though.

Not in the least. It’s the same old, same old over and over. “I’m fat.” “I’m drunk.” “I’m a slut.” And not one of the jokes funny.

I think the deal is that people are supposed to be shocked by how frank she is and this somehow triggers laughter in some people.

But if you aren’t shocked by it or don’t laugh when shocked, you don’t see why she is considered a comic.

Cite? Because what has been linked to in the thread says otherwise.

I was disappointed with her ep of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Maybe it wasn’t the right vehicle (heh) for her – to me she came across very quiet and not quick-witted on that one.

This. Compare, say, to Jerry Seinfeld, Woody Allen, or George Carlin, who actually have/had observational substance. Yes, some of it is good, and I’ve watched some of her standup, but a lot of it is like the stuff Beavis & Butthead would giggle at. Carlin was notable for his constant use of profanity, but that was like decoration on top of astute observational humor. Too much of Schumer’s humor is supposed to be funny just because it’s risque.

But I’ll still cut her some slack – good standup is hard to do and there’s enough real humor there to usually make it worth a casual watch.

So did I. Not sure I even gave it an hour.

There may have been more than one, but in the one I saw, she was being typically outrageous with her sexual commentary. Which is neither bad nor good, it just seems to be her schtick, and is not particularly funny or entertaining in itself.
