Do you get dressed on your day off?

10:15PM. I’m still naked. Though I did put on some pants and a shirt when I ran out of beer, and had to go buy more.

Living “downtown” in a small town, I’m never certain enough about the state of my window blinds to wander around nude…:o

Yes. I mean, they’re not the same type of clothes I wear when I’m going out* (usually sweats or pj bottoms and a normal shirt), but yeah, I always get dressed. And I often put make-up on too.

*Not because my “going-out” clothes are uncomfortable, but because I like to keep them nice and neat and not get them dirty if I don’t need to.

Sure, I get dressed. For a woman that is more comfortable anyway.

I always have a huge chore list on my days off, even indoor chores, so I’ll dress accordingly. If I don’t have to clean or move or repair something, I might get dressed in clothes that make me happy, but that are too fancy and hippyish for the office. Like my wide long gypsy skirts.

“Are you on your way to work?” This is the typical greeting for me on my day off. The irony is that work is casual - I wear khakis, polos, and Timberlands there. On my day off, I look like Fred MacMurray or other dads from the 50s and 60s - dress shirt, wool slacks, dress shoes, maybe a sweater vest if it’s chilly. If I’m wearing jeans and a t-shirt, I’m working on my truck or motorcycle, or about to go for a ride.

My apartment is literally right “downtown” in my own small city. I live right on one of my town’s major streets. For the first few months that I lived in this place, I was a little bit nervous about how I was dressed or undressed when passing in front of certain windows. But one day it occurred to me that I had driven past my apartment building for almost 30 years before moving in, and in all those years it never occurred to me to look in the windows. And, besides, any look that passing drivers get is so brief that I’m just no longer worried about it.

Of course I get dressed. I love clothes.

Yes, I get dressed. Always. A day off is too precious to waste it lying around in my pyjamas.

I generally just throw on whatever Jeeves has laid out for me. I don’t even check that the regimental tie and regimental socks have been pressed.

My work environment is “business casual” so if I want to feel properly dressed (jacket and tie to go to Applebee’s) I need to wait until my days off.

Has he convinced you to lose that cummerbund yet? It really doesn’t give you that dashing air you seem to attribute to it.

I would typically stay dressed in what I woke up in up until the point I had to leave my house - but it would sort of freak me out to not leave my home on a day off.

On a Saturday when I will not be leaving the house, I roll out of bed around 2:00. I putter around and eventually take a shower, changing out of Friday overnight’s lounge/sleep clothes and putting on a fresh pair of lounge/sleep clothes.

Yes. Sometimes having some clothes on (stockings, negligee/babydoll, panties, any “themed” items he’s in the mood for, etc) adds to the mood. I won’t put it on just to immediately take it off. I’ll put it on, lounge around for an hour or two in it to tease, and then we’ll get down to business.

On a weekend morning, I’ll get up and do the morning run, shower, then put on jeans and a tee or sweatshirt and run my errands/do my yardwork, whatever. But when that’s done and I get home, I hop into some pj bottoms instead of the jeans, but keep the tee or sweatshirt. The feet go into fuzzy slippers ( my feet are always cold). And that’s pretty much it unless I have plans for the evening.

Yes, but…

Right now I work from home, so there are days where I don’t get dressed until afternoon anyway.

Even when I was working outside the house, I might lounge around in nightgown until noon or so but will almost always throw something on - just not as nice as if I had to go to the office.

I get dressed (shirt and shorts but no shoes) at home, but not entirely dressed up unless I’m going out.

I chose “no” even though I fully agree with the following:

Also, the OP’s alternative to getting dressed was lounging around “in whatever you woke up in,” not being naked. I sleep/wake up in a t-shirt and panties, and if I have nowhere to be I simply add some lounge pants and slippers (and my glasses; I don’t bother with contact lenses unless I’m leaving the house). I might put on sneakers or a jacket/hat to take the dog out into the back yard, but I don’t bother with a bra, hairbrush, makeup, etc. Good thing none of my neighbors has a view into my back yard.

A day off is too precious to not spend it lying around in my PJs!

I work in a laboratory. From the Headest of the Honchos down to the boy that makes the tea, jeans are considered perfectly acceptable and appropriate attire in our offices. So my work attire is what a lot of people would think of as off work attire. Jeans, knit shirt, slip ons, and a big fluffy cardigan most days because this place is a freaking icebox.

On my days off, I put on sweatpants and a large t-shirt and clean the tub or the toilet or empty the trash or dig in the dirt or paint something or glue something—I get dirty and sweaty. Because there’s nothing quite like the experience of being dirty, smelly, and sweaty and shedding it under cool water and scented soap so you can sit in your clean house in your clean clothes and admire your handiwork while sipping a bubbly beverage as the sun slips over the yardarm.

When I do encounter days that I have nothing going on in the outside world and no expectations of company dropping by (which is so wrong to begin with) it pleases me to no end. That’s the day I put on my comfy sweats and a t-shirt sans bra along with slippers and socks. Should something unexpected happen I always have a cappy ready to wear and can throw on some minimal make-up. I had such a day on Monday and it was heaven.
