I’ve got a thing for mid-weight jackets. I inadvertently collect them; I think I have about 11 right now.
My daily wear one, though, is a Denim barn coat (square cut to below the hips).

My Florida Gators hooded sweatshirt, which I’m wearing right now. I actually won it during a wheelbarrow race at halftime of a Florida basketball game a few years ago. (For real I won a $50 gift certificate to the campus sport shop, but I used it to buy the sweatshirt.)
I have 4 pairs of yoga/workout pants from Target. Champion brand. These are the most comfortable lounging around and pajama pants ever. I can’t wear them out in public, but they are still my favorite to wear.
My hiking boots. All-leather uppers, none of this fabric nonsense. Waterproof. Comfortable as hell. Have taken me through pretty much every non-extreme climate. Handle snow on pavement beautifully. Provide excellent ankle support. At ~$200 by far the most expensive item of clothing I will ever own, and worth every penny. Part of the value is that a good pair of boots like these will last pretty much forever, if you take care of them. (Dad has a similar pair of boots, which he actually got new soles put on a couple years ago. He’s had those boots since 1968.)
I also love my dinosaur t-shirt. It’s a t-shirt with dinosaurs on it, and it just makes me happy whenever I wear it, because dinosaurs are awesome.
My Doc Martens, my velvet pinstripe blazer and my black linen shirt.
my hat. A beat up well worn in leather one that i bought new when i visited australia 11 yrs ago.
My black duster from Sedona, my black leather from my husband, my hoodie from my son that has his classes battle flag from RTC when he went in the Navy, and my hiking boots.
Probably my vinyl shiny black knee high boots. I love boots in general but these are just so awesome and I can wear them with almost everything. Sometimes jeans, or leggings and a long top, or a skirt. They’re so gorgeous and I love my grandmother so much for deciding they were a bit too young for her and for giving them to me.
My current one would be my denim jacket. It’s heavy but unlined, woman’s cut and goes with just about anything short of an evening gown.
There’s also the man’s pink button down oxford shirt that I confiscated from a former SO, that gets points for being able to be dressed up or down and being long enough to stay tucked in, should I want to wear it that way (why, oh why don’t they make women’s shirts that long?).
Accessories: my fifteen year old pair of brown penny loafers. They’ve been resoled and reheeled several times and are comfortable beyond belief.
Warm weather: a baggy, heavy-weight T-Shirt that says “Fly” on it, as in flylady.net. Oversize, heavy-weight enough that I don’t need a bra with it, super-comfy! Plus, a cheery fuchsia color.
Cold weather: a fleece-lined sweatshirt; it’s navy blue, and says “NAVY” on it in bold gold embroidery, and while I appreciate what our military does for our country, I have no specific attachment to the Navy. But I found the sweatshirt at a thrift store for $2.00, and it’s soooooo warm!
Coat: This is a toss-up; I have a black leather trench I found at a thrift store a few years ago for $20.00. It looks great, and is warm, and very ‘cool’ looking; then again, just a couple months ago, I found (at another thrift store-I like thrift stores, can you tell??) a London Fog all-weather; khaki in color, classic trench, zip-out cold-weather lining, so new it still had that little spare button in a tiny zip-lock bag in one pocket, $4.00!! Such a deal, and I’ve gotten many compliments on it!
Pants: a pair of Gilligan and O’Malley (Target proprietary brand) black lounge pants; I am tall and all my height is in my legs, so a lot of pants don’t come to the tops of my shoes, but these do. They look good enough I can wear them to the grocery store or something, but they are super-soft and comfy, and even have pockets! (When I rule the world, no one will be allowed to produce pants that don’t have pockets, even if they’re pajama pants!)
The only thing wrong with my workout/pajama pants is no pockets. I sometimes wish I had one to tuck my phone into when I’m cleaning so I can listen to my tunes from room to room.
Currently it’s this sweatshirt. Nice and warm. The hood is a darn near perfect size.
Aww. That made me squee.
For nostalgia, I have my Grampa’s black fedora and my dad’s workbelt and buckle that he wore for years.
For comfort, I have a grey sweatshirt that’s at least 20 years old. It’s barely holding together. Whenever I wash it I say a silent prayer that it will come back out in one piece. The wrists and collar are frayed. There are stains from every color of paint I have put up. I have finally agreed not to wear it in public. I often wear it with a pair of soft as silk dark grey wide legged pajama pants. Those I do wear out in public.
For work, I have (but rarely wear anymore) a long black linen shift dress. More of a funereal muu muu. It’s now more of a faded black, but when it’s warm and I want to be comfortable, it’s my go to work wear.
