Do you have a preferred method of drinking cola beverages?

I don’t always drink cola-flavored beverages, but when I do, I prefer to drink Coke:

  1. With a straw
  2. Out of a styrofoam cup
  3. With crushed ice.

Like this, but with a straw. Or this, but in s styrofoam cup.

So how do you like yours? In a glass bottle? In a can? In a highball glass on the rocks with a splash of coconut rum? Or no preference whatsoever? Does the brand matter? Coke? Pepsi? RC? Faygo Cola?

Lots of ice, either crushed or cubed, and with a straw, in a glass or a paper cup (like a McDonald’s to go container). I’m having some right now.

And never diet.

In an aluminum can. Ice is too watered down and plastic makes it not crisp enough. Glass is okay.

I like to go orally. As a second, probably aurally. You get that whole snap-crackle-pop thing.

No ice, even in really hot weather because I hate how it melts and dilutes the Coke. I don’t like to drink straight from the can or bottle but will do so, at a pinch, if I have a straw. I prefer to drink from a glass.

Can straight out of the fridge. Love it.

Me, too. From a can straight out of the fridge.

It’s a drink I have maybe twice a year (I know - excessive) and when I do have it, it has to be off-the-shelf warm. I quickly pour half of it into a glass, and down it immediately before all the froth actually turns back into cola. The offensive residue (unfizzed cola) is chucked down the sink. I do the same with the other half.

There is no therapy for this.

Well, plastic bottle, but, yeah, straight from the container while it’s cold. No ice, no decanting into a cup or glass. Maximal retention of carbonation. Makes the burps all the more hearty.

(Of course, for burps, Ginger Ale seems to pack more punch than most Colas.)

In a real glass with ice cubes.

With my mouth.

Seriously, other than that, no preference except that it should be cold and ideally a sugarless version of whatever cola it is.

In a glass with ice. If I have a choice, I prefer the little cubes with indentations on the side (most often available from hotel ice machines). If I have crushed ice, I prefer to use a straw. My ice at home comes in half-moons, and I drink straight out of the glass, but sometimes the chunks of ice will impede the flow of cola or fall abruptly against my teeth, and I hate that.

Not that I’m picky.

No ice, poured into a light weight glass, diet pepsi. I drink it all day long.

I never drink cola except occasionally as a mixer.

When I drink it as a mixer, it is usually with bourbon and a little ice, in a glass or stainless steel tumbler. Or a splash of it in a Long Island.

If I were to drink some straight, it’d probably be just out of the bottle, but I’d rather just have a soda water.

A couple of ice cubes, to keep it cold, and a big wedge of lemon (or a sprinkle of lemon Kool-Aid) because it’s too sweet.

Can, out of the fridge, open the tab partway. A guy once told me to get a knife and poke a hole in the top since it was just as effective.

If not that, in a glass and flat (after drinking the fizz).

A nice can, out of the fridge.

Or with tons of free refills out of a glass with ice, fresh from the dispenser.

I prefer cold over room temperature, but that’s not a deal breaker. Never with ice, I don’t even own a glass. Right out of the can. I’m lucky – in Texas the store brand has a line made with cane sugar, so 20c a can, without HFCS. Ii prefer the DrPepper knockoff.

When I get a burger, the drink is free for seniors, I get root beer and use a straw, no ice.

I either like it straight out of the fridge in a can, or else in a styrofoam or paper cup with lots of ice. Either with a lid and a straw, or no lid and no straw.

Don’t care for it as much from a plastic or glass bottle. It changes it in a way I can’t quite identify, and it’s not as good.

Out of the can from the fridge.

I don’t always drink cola-flavored beverages, but when I do, I prefer Coca-Cola Vanilla Zero. Stay thirsty, my friends.
