Do you have any Duluth Trading clothes?

Now that you mention it, the Ball Rooms are the jeans. The other underwear is called Free Range.

Their stuff is OK the long tails are big selling point for long waisted people like me. The hand drawn painted looking pics look nice but are very frustrating to use in judging how an item really looks. I’d much rather have all photos.

My favorite underwear are Ex Officio boxer briefs, which are expensive but worth every penny IMHO. They offer support but have never chafed, and each pair lasts for many years. I’ve had pairs that my wife has thrown out because they were faded, but I’ve never lost any to actual mechanical failure.

The Duluth Trading underwear seem to be made of the same slightly textured synthetic material in roughly the same style, with the difference that the DT boxer briefs are much higher waisted - so much so that I have to fold the waistband down on the pairs that I received as a gift, so they don’t stick out from above my pants so far! Other than that cut issue, they are just as durable and comfortable as the Ex Officio versions. If they were cheaper I would overlook the cut issue and go with DT, but the savings is not quite enough for me to go with something that doesn’t fit perfectly. YMMV on the cut, though.

I have tried multiple items of clothing from DT, and while I have been impressed with the quality of materials and workmanship, I find that the cut of much of their stuff just doesn’t work well with my body proportions. This is not a complaint about their stuff - I wish that I could comfortably wear more of it, and I love some of their accessories like hats and gloves.

Bumping this thread because I bought some more DTC stuff and thought I give a review now that I’ve lived with them a couple weeks.

  1. Shoreman’s Fleece I mentioned this up thread and bought another, just to have a different color. Exactly the same as the one I bought a couple years ago. No change in fit or quality. Recommended.
2.Wild Boar boots. Fit well, light weight, comfortable. I’ve been wearing them at home and out for shopping etc., haven’t worn them to work yet but I think they seem well made and could easily wear them 8 hours a day. Wish they were offered with a safety toe.
3.Souped Up Sweatpants Pretty expensive but they are the thickest, heaviest “sweat” material I have encountered. Instead of a drawstring they have a built in adjustable belt. Good! Heavy snap front fastener and zip fly. Good! Two side pockets, two zippered back pockets and two velcro cargo pockets. Good! I really like them.

Since my last post I’ve added a few things.

Flannel shirts, up to 3 now, super comfortable and good not your typical patterns.

One pair of the seven year socks. Ive been a die hard Snap On sock fan till now but these are really comfy.

I want to like the sweatpants but they are too short for me.

I’m planning my next visit so I can try on one of their blazers, the medium tan one looks like it might be just what I’m looking for.

The Hoffman Estates store is set to open this year for you Chicago Dopers. I’ll be there opening day since I’ve been pestering them to open one in IL for several years now.

OP checking back in.

The underwear is fine but it’s just underwear. I doubt that I’d buy more, even at the discount price of $15.

I love the grab jacket. I’m in southern Oklahoma and our normal winters are windy and cold. This year has been milder than normal but I’ve never needed anything heavier than my Duluth. Very happy with the purchase.

They do “spamalot”. I’m afraid that it might be working. Whenever I get a new offer, I actually look at it to see if I need what they’re selling. So far, I’ve resisted but I don’t know how long I can hold out. It’s not that I mind buying clothes, I just don’t like rewarding spammers.

It’s not really spam if you have a business relationship with them already, you know.

RH - Glad you dig the sweats. I have two pair and damn near live in them at home during the winter. The belt and pockets make them the best sweats around.

Yes, I know that this is technically correct (“The best kind of correct!”) but when they send me a new offer everyday, it definitely feels kind of spammy.

They are opening a store about a mile from my house

The local outdoorsy (kayaks, backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, etc.) store closed, but a Duluth Trading Store is taking over the space.

I’d rather have the former, but it is nice to have a downtown store not remain vacant long.

Brian

I have a fire hose work jacket, I work outside and it is very warm. I’m usually well layered up underneath, but it is great when it is windy and cold.

I had the wife order a couple of items for the car the other day, and she surprised me with a couple of pairs of Armachillo boxers and some Buck Naked underwear. So far I am very impressed. The Armachillo makes me feel all Fat Bastard.

Well, thanks entirely to this thread, I just placed an order for a polo shirt and a bottle of lavender hand cream. Should see it in a week, and if the shirt’s as nice as all these posts seem to suggest, I might buy some jeans, as well.

Let me know what you think of the polo shirt. I’m fairly long bodied and suffer from plumber butt.

Will do.

I’m 6 4, so I know about plumbers butt! I have a couple of dozen T’s and half a dozen polo’s from Duluth. Love em, just love em.

Do you have any issues with the collars on them? That’s my biggest pet peeve with polos. Sometimes the collars get out of kilter and nothing will get them to lay down again.

Nars Glinley, I got my shirt on Friday, and, as promised, the tails are extra long. Haven’t worn it for a full day yet, but so far, my opinion of it is … meh.

Pros are, it’s a nice thick fabric, and feels very hardy. And the aforementioned long tail. Seems like a shirt that would adequately deal with plumber’s butt.

Which is appropriate, given that it feels like a shirt that a plumber would wear to work. It’s not stylish at all. I ordered the hunter green, and while it’s not faded, nor is it especially vibrant, saturated, or noticeable. The collar does not lie very flat, and the fabric, while strong, seems to have a very pedestrian texture.

But the big reason I am considering sending it back is fit. According to Duluth Trading Co’s sizing chart, I wear an extra-large. But I’ve recently lost a lot of weight, so I decided to chance a large. It fits across the chest and around the neck; but the shoulders of the shirt are about an inch and a half further out than my actual shoulders. As a result, the shirt looks a bit shapeless and baggy on me. I am debating whether or not to send it back.

Your mileage, of course, may vary, and you may not be as vain a peacock as am I. But over all, I am, at least for the time being, whelmed.

Bumping because I just came from a Duluth retail store. I was impressed by the offerings, but a bit gun-shy of the prices, so I didn’t purchase anything.

After reading this thread, though, I regret not picking up - or at least trying on - a pair of their jeans.

Saw lots of cool stocking stuffer ideas too.
mmm

My parents like to given my husband Duluth shirts for Christmas. They run quite large and are made of thick fabric. This means they take up a TON of space in the washing machine. If he regularly wore only Duluth shirts I’d probably have to wash an extra load every week. For this reason, they’re on my shit list.

They bought me a plaid shirt from Duluth once, also. It felt like cardboard and was horribly unflattering. I Goodwilled it.

I am obviously not one of those “not one of those girly pretty types” from their commercials (huge rolleyes).
