Jezebel, cat, F: Jez, Jezzie, Small Little Cat, Black and White Cat, Lemur Face, Goat Girl (she does an amazing fainting goat imitation), Sweetie Pie, Cat Cat Cat
Zebulon, cat, M: Zeb, Zebbie, Squeaky Cat (he’s got a really weird meow sometimes), Bunyip Boy (after Bertie the Bunyip, a TV puppet of my youth), Gray and White Cat, Sweetie Pie, Cat Cat Cat
My mutt (female dog; some sort of golden retriever/ rottweiler mix) was named Louise when we got her from the pound, but when she came to live with us she became Bellatrix Lestrange. We’ve always called her Bella, but for some reason I started calling her Diggle Dog, and now she’s Diggle half the time. I’m sure this profusion of names is baffling to her (as are, to be frank, most things), but since she comes when we call, or when we don’t call but make some sort of noise, or when we don’t make any noise but sort or shift in our chair… it works.
Gracie - cat - female - Princess Fluffybutt, Fattie McFatterson, Gracie Face, Baby Girl, Gracie Crockett (don’t ask, I always sing her name out so it rhymes with Davey Crockett)
Mischief - cat - male - Um…he’s just Mischief actually.
Jack - cat - male - Jack Attack, Monsieur Jacques, Jack-A-Roo, Bastard (because he is one)
Dog, female. Nebbie (her name is Nebula), Neb -oooo- la (nickname people at Guide Dogs had for her), puppy girl, cheese-hund, and when she is being obnoxious, muttsky, though as a Guide Dog breeder she is about as far from being a mutt as you can get this side of AKC champions.
I rescued my dog two years ago and she came to me as KC. But I call her fuzzy butt so often she responds to that as quickly or more so than she does KC.
Name of pet, type of pet, gender of pet (optional), nickname(s), other relevant/amusing details (if desired).
Mackie, Scottish Terrier (dog), female:
Mick-mack, Mackiedochees, Mackieroni, Mackadoodle, Mackintosh, MacDawg, Whacky-Mackie, Macca, Mackie-Sack, (we have dozens of “Mac”-variations on her name), Dammit*
Mackie was my daughter’s first dog, and Sophie was the one who came up with the name. It fits on a lot of levels.
Crooky, Mini Australian Shepherd, male: Crikey, Crookers, Nut-job, Crookify, Cruddy, Crummy, Crampy, Crimble (and as many other variations on the “Cr” theme that I can come up with at any given moment).
I’m mostly the only one that uses nicknames, but we have two cats. They both get called Little Girl (as does my mom, so that gets confusing).
Mya: Mya-moo, Mya Nicole (I’m the only one that knows she has a middle name apparently).
Hermione: Herminors, Herwhiners (because she never shuts up), Herwajesty, Zeppers (short for zeppelin, because she’s shaped like one), ‘shut up already’, and ‘you were already fed’
