Do you have post-coronavirus vacation plans?

Is that the case though? I hadn’t heard about any new air travel practices yet, which doesn’t mean there aren’t any.

I won two free airline tickets in Feb2020 with a one-year expiration. Dunno how keen I am to get into a crowded tube with others at this point!

Try changing your dates or possibly your departure city. Could modify prices greatly.
And step back from Kayak… lots of choices but their reliability is questionable.

Nothing in the immediate future but I’m planning to head up to Chicago in mid-November and early December, as I do every year. Obviously, at thing point it’s too early for me to be booking flights, etc. I’m hoping that things will settle down by the time I need to be doing so.

We just wanna go HOME!

We live on 36 acres out in the middle of nowhere in NE AZ. We travel back and forth between AZ and SCal because our kids and grandkids live in SCal, and our doctors are in SCal.

Last December, we came to SCal for the holidays and doctor appointments. But on January 17th, our lives changed.

Mr VOW had a “Widowmaker” heart attack. He got excellent care and incredible followup in SCal. And during his recuperation, COVID hit.

Right now, both California and Arizona are on lockdown. So that prevents us from going anywhere. Plus our piece of “out in the middle of nowhere” is about a hundred miles from a hospital.

Add the fact that The Daughter is practically in perpetual panic mode of anything happening to her daddy.

I don’t know when we’ll ever get back home!

We had a trip to the UK scheduled for September - already cancelled it and are planning to go next year assuming this stuff settles down by then.

San Diego Comic Con was cancelled for this year so obviously we won’t be doing that. Origins Game Fair was rescheduled to later this year, and whether I go depends on how settled things are. I’ve got an indie writer convention scheduled for November and I plan to go unless things are really terrible, even if I have to spend the whole con in a mask and gloves.

Priority is seeing my parents in Michigan - they’re getting up there in age, and I’m not sure how much longer they’ll be around.
We had been hoping to visit towards the end of July - with a side trip down to central Illinois to see some of the places where I grew up, and around the U of I where I went to school. That’s pretty well on hold, and feeling kind of unlikely at this time.
Other possibilities include around Thanksgiving, but just to Michigan, as the weather won’t be as conducive to wandering around. I’m not sure I want to be in the States just after the election, however. I don’t consider myself paranoid, but one way or another, things are going to be stressed around then.
Christmas is also a possibility, but airfare from Australia goes through the roof at that time of year.
sigh Playing it all by ear.

We’re on permanent vacation so we go where and when we can. We’d roughly planned a circum-national campout for around now - that’s on hiatus till we’re safely vaccinated. We might stay in local national forest sites when they reopen but we’ll definitely avoid early-opening states. They can have their death-spikes, sure. We will go to saner places.

I’m in the UK.
I had to cancel my May trip to Las Vegas (but I got my money back.)

So when things calm down … Vegas baby, Vegas!

June: local area traveling as it’s planned that most of the restrictions will be lifted, with the exception of large (more than 1000 people) gatherings. So maybe the big city (Zurich) and hiking (Rigi) and see what the local hotels are offering to get locals to stay in them.

July: Same as June. Maybe we’ll be able to cross the border, but this will probably be the chance to see a lot of local tourist spots a bit less crowded.

October: Probably something other than the original plans because I doubt my parents are flying over. Maybe we’ll go to Madrid anyway as the hotel’s already booked and no one’s certain if travel insurance covers cancellations unless someone is actually sick.

Somebody made a comment Spain will keep its borders closed until September, but I haven’t seen any cites.

We had to break the news to our luggage that there would be no big trips in 2020. They didn’t take it well.

Emotional baggage is just the worse.

:D:D:D

I just canceled a cruise we had booked for September - not so much because of the virus, but because my spousal unit is about to have major spinal surgery followed by 6-7 weeks of rehab, and I seriously doubt he’ll be up to a 9-day vacation with all the associated walking.

We’ll try again next year, assuming he recovers completely.

We have a Disneyland trip booked for mid-June, that we have not yet cancelled. We’re in a “wait and see” frame of mind for this, but prepared to reschedule for fall if needed.

My mom, sister and I have a coastal trip planned for early July. We’ll be staying in a cottage where we usually cook in most nights. I think this one will probably happen. Beaches on the north coast of California are rarely crowded like the ones in southern CA.

We also have a cruise booked for January of 2021. We’re going to wait and see for that.

We had been vaguely planning on doing another 10-ish day road trip this summer- maybe Chicago by way of a big loop through Omaha and Des Moines, and maybe back through St. Louis, but I doubt we’re going to take that this year.

I want to take a road trip, avoid major highways, and stop off at Tonopah, Nevada and spend the night at the Clown Motel. After I plan to visit Salt Lake City and spend some time at the Family History Library for some genealogy research.

I’m still going to do something tropical. It may be that cruises will be cheap, sparkling clean and sparsely populated. I also have ideas about a week hiking Kauaʻi and a few days loafing and being a tourist. Or maybe Greece, but I’d rather spend the money on the ground than in the air. Definitely heading further south than I’ve ever been before, though.
