Most of my non-work shoes are “throw on” shoes. I have a pair of Birkenstocks, a pair of beat up sandals and a pair of flip flops by the front door, and a second pair of flip flops by the back door. (I live in south Florida).
Nah. I keep my shoes on until I know I’m not going out anymore. Note that I’m in the mountains, and taking the dogs for a walk or going to my car in the driveway often requires boots. And I’m much more comfortable in shoes than without.
I will on a weekend skuf around in sheep fleece ankle high slippers until my day starts. They are suicide on snow or ice.
I have a pair of Keens, They are sandals with an enclosed toe. If I’m not working it’s what I typically use year round. If it’s actively snowing I tend to use something else. They have a strap that goes around the back, if I’m going out real quick it ends up under my foot instead.
Yep. A pair of old, dog-eaten Crocs on the porch and, for inside, a pair of paint stained $3 canvas Walmart clearance specials.
The shoes I wear every day, everywhere except to work.
Nope, not shoes. I have slippers which I may wear for briefly going outside (e.g. put out the trash).
Yes, I keep a pair of worn-out sneakers by the door for this purpose. They’re my abusable shoes for going out in wet, muddy conditions as well. (I also keep my “good” sneakers by the door, because I take them off there as a matter of custom.)
I mostly just go barefoot, but for icky cold wetness I have a pair of shove-on rubber boots by the door.
Usually a pair of flip flops which suffice if I have to run out to the mail box or water the front garden. Slippers in the winter time.
Yes. Then I can go out with the dog easily, or back when I smoked, step outside for that.
Yeah, I keep a pair of knockoff Crocs for this reason. I used to wear sandals, but my apartment has stairs and flip flops trip me up on stairs. Great for walking the dog or watering my patio garden when I’m not otherwise going out / getting dressed.
Kind of. Till I “threw them on” to wear to a podiatrist appointment I nearly forgot about, and realized that they were pretty stinky. :o Oops. They are no more.
crocs muthafuka.
Crocs when it’s rainy, beat up Birkenstock thong sandals in the summer, and a pair of Birkenstock suede clogs for winter. Those last ones were a beautiful purple color which faded in the sun, so I had them dyed black so now they are a sad muddy purple. Perfect for Saturdays!
Yes, two pairs of worn out Hush Puppy clog style shoes, one at the front door and one at the back. Living in Rain Country, it’s customary to slip your shoes off when going into someone’s home. Now I do it out of habit in my own home, too.
The pair at the back door has more to do with wanting a pair close by the bed if there is an earthquake in the middle of the night. I keep a small LED flashlight slipped inside one of those shoes as well. No sense stepping barefoot on broken glass in the dark.
No: in the winter, I prefer boots; in the summer, if the sandals don’t fit tightly enough I end up trying to break my neck. Things such as flip-flops, backless slippers or crocs are a splatted Nava waiting for a piece of floor (I’ve been known to fall down on all fours twice in the same week, but thankfully that’s my record so far). But with exceptions such as a pair of lace-up boots for rough terrain, I make sure that any shoes I have are easy to put on and off.
Yep. An old pair of crocs. I had to throw away 30 year old penny loafers used for that purpose a few years ago, but I got my money out of those shoes - first for real wear, then for Target runs, finally for mailbox runs and yard work.
I also have a pair of Costco sheepskin boots for winter that do require a hand to put on, but are really easy.
In the house I wear Geisswein or Haflinger boiled wool slippers with a rubber sole, which will get me to the mailbox or trash if it isn’t wet.
Another yes for me, but they’re also shoes I wear out as well.
They are an old pair of Reebok Zigs and they’re my theme park shoes because I wear them to the various theme parks around here.
They’re old and kinda-sorta falling apart, but they’re the most comfortable shoes I have and they can last an entire day at Disney without my feet killing me
Pretty much all my shoes act like that. If I am being honest, I only really wear my Docs or my Vans. I have “smart” shoes hidden away somewhere for the once or twice a year that they are required.
I used to have a worn out pair of loafers that I didn’t have to even tie or slip on, just put my feet in them and go, for taking out the trash or getting something from my car. I think I’ve misplaced them.
