Do you know anyone who drinks a daily latte?

In any news story about How to Save Money, the #1 thing they always list is, “Give up your daily latte.”

I’ve never met anyone who drinks a daily latte. In fact, I don’t know anyone who goes to a coffee shop everyday.

Who are these people? Maybe it is more of an urban or college thing. I could see myself socializing more in coffee shops if I lived in an urban area with a coffee house right down the street.

I buy a coffee almost every day but since the lattes (& other fancy drinks) are more expensive I only get those occasionally.

Nope. I get a latte from Starbucks once every two weeks. I don’t do it for the caffeine (don’t normally drink coffee) but as a sweet treat.

Same here. It’s a treat. Normally I make the coffee at home, or brew a pot of tea at work for my caffeine.

I know some people who get a daily expensive coffee. I don’t know if it is a latte. A few guys from the office I used to work in would almost always stop on the way back from lunch for a high-priced coffee.

I buy a coffee three or four times a week, usually just regular coffee, but sometimes it’s an Americano Misto or something similar.

There are some people at my office who cannot live without their daily lattes. Sometimes they stand around and talk about their lattes. These people are generally douchebags.

I always wonder that, too! I treat myself occasionally, but couldn’t afford to get in the habit of a daily purchase. My boss pretty much sends out someone to fetch her coffee everyday, but she’s got a heftier paycheck and can afford it, I guess. Everyone else I know who’s caffeine -addicted either drinks the office sludge or brings in their home blend.

My mother drinks at least a latte a day, but she makes her own most of the time. She also gets them from Sheetz quite often (oh, for Wawa to have a latte bar).

My husband drinks lattes everyday or at least he used to buy them outside when starbucks was around the corner. Now it has been a combo of bringing coffee or lattes from home and buying them outside. Cost wasn’t a factor more than convenience and calories.

I’ve met a couple of people who can’t live without their daily latte, but for most people I know, a latte is a treat to be enjoyed on the weekends. I get a fancy coffee drink maybe once a week, but otherwise I brew my own at home and take it with me. It’s not just cheaper, but it has the added bonus of getting me to work faster.

No. I used to get a regular coffee every day at Starbucks, but those aren’t much more expensive than any other coffee shop, and definitely not $3, like some people seem to think.

I make my own at home, and get a latte maybe twice a month - it’s my treat for when I have to deal with going to the mall, or if I’m out and about and hungry, but it’s not convenient to stop and eat.

I know lots of people who do this. At work I see people go to one of the three Starbucks in my building (don’t ask!) and get one or two lattes everyday. But I also live in Seattle so maybe that explains it. People here seem to really get into their coffee.

I get an Americano everyday. Tall Americano with room and I drink it black, my wife gets the same thing. I have maybe one latte or mocha a month, maybe. Not my first coffee choice.

I make my own [I love owning a regular coffee maker and an expresso machine] coffee based drinks because I can control what ingredients I use, and can keep the sugar and corn syrup away, and no funky dumb fruits [pumplin. In coffee. Really? :dubious: that is about as sucktastic as blueberry. Fruit does not go with coffee IMHO]

I get a latte every work day morning, and probably at least one a weekend, if not more. I do live in a college town that is just bursting to the brim with coffee shops and cafes - I also don’t drink at pubs or bars that often, so socializing is usually done in cafes.

It’s a relaxation thing for me at work; I get here early, amble across the street to get my chai latte, and then chill before the day starts. The cost isn’t an issue for me. Yes, it would be a lot cheaper to just brew my own chai and add milk, but I like having that time to myself, saying hi to the barista and other regulars, etc. It’s worth it to me.

I used to get a daily cappucino at the Starbuck’s in my building (I work in downtown Chicago). I’ve cut back to getting a daily coffee at the train station before I get on the train. That’s a difference of about $3.60 for the cappucino versus $1.65 for the coffee, or roughly $40 a month.

I think its probably an urban thing. You’d need to have good coffehouses around before you could get dragged into a habit like that. Ironically, having good coffeehouses around was part of what broke my cappucino habit - I had a few too many from actually GOOD coffeehouses and found the Starbucks version disappointing by comparison.

What the hell? Two? How much do these things run for, anyway? About $5? People are spending $200/mo on lattes? More importantly, people are drinking that many lattes?!

Maybe it’s an urban thing. When I commuted to an office in town (London) I would always pick up a coffee on my way into work, mainly because I can’t stand instant and that’s all they ever had in the office. Many other people do the same. I’ve never really worried about the price, it’s just a coffee!

(but not a latte. I can’t ‘stand’ milk in my coffee).

Mr. S makes himself at least one latte/espresso combo every day. But we don’t have decent coffee joints around here, and he wouldn’t buy that many lattes.

I like to get a tall Starbucks chai latte whenever I go out and about, but that’s once or twice a week, tops. It’s a treat. And I don’t make chai lattes at home, just plain chai tea with a splash of fake half-and-half.

Daily coffee seems fairly normal. Daily lattes just sounds ridiculous.
