I’ve never even heard OF it.

When I said I was indifferent to his music, I meant I neither like it nor hate it, because I never even listen to it. At all. Ever.

He’s a shitty human being who makes shitty music.

Actually, that’s not entirely fair. I dislike the entire genre of music he contributes to. I have no way of gauging whether his contributions are notably shitty within that genre because I find the entire genre shitty.

I’ve only heard a handful of his songs and I like the ones I’ve heard (particularly “Golddigger” and “Black Skinhead”), but I doubt I would enjoy one of his whole albums.

I saw his last SNL appearance and my favorite dude of the moment, Chance The Rapper, did a song with Kanye (and might I say Kanye sounded just like Chance at the beginning of the song) so Kanye gets points for that. And if Chance likes Kanye, I can give Kanye a little bit of props.

But Kanye is also an arrogant, whiny shit. He makes Jay-Z and P-Diddy look like absolute gentlemen grown-ups. Those guys know how to be rap moguls…Kanye, not so much.

Props to his mom for raising a kid who is full of self esteem but…that scale is tipped a little too far!

I am going to vote “Yes” just because I have spent money on Kanye songs. But I would not count him as a celeb that I like.

I would LOVE to see him win Album of the Year – only to have someone jump up on stage and say that Beyonce should’ve won it.

The guy’s just a douchebag with an ego the size of Texas with no self awareness.

Oh, and he’s a gay fish.

I chose “Who?”

I’ve heard his name. But I have no idea who he is or why he’s famous.

AFAIK the only song of his I’ve heard (Gold Digger) was the cover version done in S1 of *Glee. *Everything else I know of the guy comes from snippets I get on the news or what happens to pop up in my Facebook feed.

Comes across as a giant asshole.

He’s a narcissistic toolbag. I can’t stand him.

I know nothing of his personality, etc., but the rapping I’ve heard from him is good, so I voted “yes.” How can you not like:

Indifferent to him and his music. I just don’t give a shit enough to have an opinion of him.

No clue about his music but he’s a self-absorbed dumb ass. That he married into that reality show circus just adds to it.

His tweets are getting stranger by the minute. He’s 53 million in debt (a fool and his money) and he wants Mark Zuckerberg to invest 1 billion dollars in his ideas.

I can’t say anything about the man, but I do like some of his music, though I can only name one off the top of my head. (Specifically, Power.)

I thought his debut album was really really good, especially for a guy who had trouble getting a record deal and was told by most major labels as well as his mentors and rappers he produced for that he was strictly a producer and could not rap. For those unaware, before his performing career, he produced hits for Jay Z, but he had a particular (perhaps limited) style/niche as most hip-hop beat-makers/producers do. Even Beyonce didn’t know his name. I don’t think most people expected him to do anything other than rap poorly over sped-up soul samples. At least that’s my perspective and recollection from around 2001-2003.

Then he put out an album that sold around 4 million copies and was a huge hit w/ videos and singles. For all the people who don’t know anything about his music, I had a hard time running into anyone who didn’t around that time. FWIW, I was 24 or 25 when his first album came out and I grew up with hip-hop music. I didn’t really follow too much of his later career, but I know a lot of musicians and other artists and fans of the same type of music (I was mostly underground hip-hop approx '95-05 or so) who consider him a genius of music and experimentation in the genre, at least as far as major label hip-hop post-shiny suit era allows.

Also, I like cocky people when it comes to sports and entertainment. Especially if they are underdogs who are written off and then succeed beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. He went out and accomplished things he wanted to do. He beat out trendier and more accepted (at the time) hip-hop artists to be more successful in album sales AND critical acclaim. He married the woman he wanted to. You know, I don’t understand watching a porno and wanting to marry the chick, but he did and he did.

He’s also been criticized, frequently in homophobic and other bigoted terms, for a lot of things, and he’s pretty much just done what he sets out to do. I personally don’t think he’s a bad guy or has done anything to hurt anyone. Even the people he criticizes, outside of some old white people who only like old white people things (IMHO), like the guy or at least respect his achievements.

Has he done anything good in this world? If he has, I have not heard of it. From what I HAVE heard, he strikes me as an epic douchebag. As for his music, I can’t say I remember any of it. Do I like him? In a word, no.

At the risk of being the old “get off my lawn” guy the super-popularity of his music and people calling him a genius sort of mystifies me. My musical tastes are about as eclectic as any human beings can be but IMO his “music” is … OK to pretty good but not “Oh MY GOD!!!” amazing. His songs are well produced, his videos are very well done visually and artistically, but so are a lot of videos. I’m still not seeing how he is the musical god king. I appreciate his music at something of a remove. It does not speak to me and I’ll play anything from GG Allin to Cibo Matto to Kraftwerk to the Pet shop Boys and on.

I will give him that he is a master integrator of rap beats with other song elements and he has an epic visual sense, but I’m still not feeling it with his music in terms of emotional response. I get the impression you would have to really like rap as your preferred musical base to feel that way about his music.

This is a nice tour of his hits and discussion of the themes.

Oh all his songs this is probably the most interesting to me

Runaway

I support our President on this issue.

Bwahahahahahahahaha! Perfect delivery, too.

If Kanye runs for President, he’ll be the black Donald Trump.

If I have, I don’t remember it. I try to keep an open mind about styles of music. I don’t have much tolerance for self-important aggrandizing. That’s what I hear from him; not his music. I understand he is/was a great producer. Somewhere down the line he chose to be a “personality” instead. He seems like an awfully obnoxious blow hard to me. I’ve met enough, and I can’t imagine being entertained by another.
