Dude, you fucking stole somebody’s brief spot in the limelight, even the POTUS thinks you’re a dickweed, and you still have the balls (or the childishness) to call losing an award “a slap in the face?” Stay classy, buddy
Ah, yes…now I get it! I guess his sophisticated comments just went over my head. After all, I know nothing about the entertainment industry or the pain of losing and MTV Video Music Award (the pain! the hurt!). Kudos to you, good sir, for helping me understand.
Kanye’s new album is seriously amazing. Absolutely amazing. As such, keep spreading the crazy, Yeezy-- I don’t mind if it makes albums like this.
Oh and on one song he makes a joke about the South Park thing, so I think he got over it. Actually, if I remember correctly, his blog at the time of the South Park episode actually said that it hurt his feelings, but it did cause a little introspection- he realized he does take himself too seriously blah blah.
Here we go, the relevent quotes from the blog you’re talking about. Honestly, I don’t see a damned thing inappropriate about what he’s saying here. Maybe you don’t like the guy, which is fine, but there are more legitimate reasons to dislike him than this:
My favourite album of the year. I might not agree with everything he says or does but fucking hell his music is phenomenal. I think he’s the best new artist of the past decade.
I don’t know why Kanye riles people up so much, unless they’re fans who are annoyed his antics are distracting from the music, which is a point I could understand. If that’s not the problem… why does he bring out such anger in people? It’s not as if he’s a political figure or something, he’s just a popstar.
The Taylor Swift thing happened approximately four million years ago, I wish everyone (including Kanye) would move on.
His music in general is amazing, but MBDTF is seriously amazing. I’ve probably listened to it 200 times by now (it’s on repeat on my computer at work) and it’s still epic. Start to finish, an amazing album.
The guy says some stupid shit sometimes, but that’s sort of the way of crazy artists, no? Plus, I’m pretty sure you guys just don’t care about black people.
Right, but not even many popstars reach his level of “ultra-ego-maniac-douchebag-crybaby,” I don’t think. He comes off a the biggest self-important attention-whore AND, if that wasn’t bad enough, everything is always everyone else’s fault, never his. He blames Taylor Swift for not sticking up for him in interviews? WHY THE FUCK WOULD SHE? He throws a fucking temper tantrum because he didn’t win an award? Dude, grow up.
I can overlook an artist’s assholishness if they make great music (Oasis is my favorite band and all), but Kanye is too fucking over-the-top even for me. He’s gonna be working at a Long John Silver’s before showing up on one of those VH1 “Where Are They Now?” shows 20 years from now if he keeps this shit up.
Um, no. “We’re bigger than Jesus” is endearing. “I acted like an asshole on national television, embarrassed one artist by stealing her acceptance speech time, then embarrassed another by saying she should have won, then had a heart-to-heart with the world about it via Twitter, THEN said I didn’t regret it” is just stupid.
It has led me to have a COMPLETE AND TOTAL CRISIS because now I can’t decide which of his albums is better, The College Dropout, 808s & Heartbreaks or My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I was sure it was 808s when it first came out, then I went back to College and now with the release of this new album I’m just a confused mess. Help me, oh great Kanyesus, help me decide!
But yes, the new album is a masterpiece. I look forward to little bits of the songs like I’d look forward to great scenes in a film.
Not to be this person, but she started it with the VMAs this year with her crazy ass maudlin performance (I mean started it by bringing it back up. Kanye had basically gone into seclusion). It started with them replaying the clip of Kanye interrupting her, then she sang this sorrowful song about Kanye being innocent, all while she was bare foot and wore a white dress. Naturally, at the end of the performance, the sun rose in the background.
Since that happened a few months ago, she’s had a huge hit record again, so people keep bringing it up in the media. Even when Kanye and Bush had their little thing a few weeks ago, when Kanye spoke about it, they asked him about Taylor swift again.
Yes, you’re 100% right. That poor Kanye West with his lack of hit albums and production deals is one step away from working fast food. Poor guy. You realize he’s already been around-- attitude and all- for a while now?
PS: His album is set to be the number 1 album in the country next week.
The SAME thing happened to me. Honestly, nothing can beat MBDTF. Maybe it’s just because the record is new, but like I said, I’ve played it about a million times and it’s still amazing.
To reference, since I know we agree on music here . . . dare I say. . . it’s better than Blackout.
I don’t even really disagree with you (except that bit about his career ending if he continues, I don’t think that’ll happen), I suppose it’s just I can’t imagine getting so riled over something ultimately inconsequential that Kanye West, or any celebrity, does or says - and I’m one of those people who frequents gossip sites and cries when a celebrity they like dies, so I’m absolutely not trying to be “above” anyone who is interested in pop culture.
Now I don’t mean to say that you’re huffing and puffing, bashing away at the keyboard while taking breaks to practice your aim on a specially made Kanye dartboard, I know this most likely does not impact you or your real life in any way. I mean it more generally, like Kanye in particular seems to be the centre of a “hatedom”, and even with his assholishness it still seems overboard. (Again, that doesn’t necessarily refer to you specifically).
As a wise man once said, “You can’t fool all of the people all of the time.” His egomania will eventually alienate even those diehard fans. He’s not “asshole” good and never will be.
You seem to be head-over-heels in love with him, though. Do you work for his PR team?
Kanye’s best reaction to Taylor Swift’s awkward reprise woulda maybe been some sort of shrug about it. Or a statement that he’s glad Taylor’s getting past it (however facile that might’ve been, seeing as she’s obviously not). Anything but an attempt to justify it.
But he’s not a very bright guy. Great artist, IMO, but kinda dim. If he’s gonna stick up for anything he said, the Katrina remarks would be the thing to defend, but he walked those back instead of the Swiftus Interruptus thing. Dumb.
Oh my gawwwwd, not Blackout! As it is a known fact that I worship at the altar of The Legendary Miss Britney Spears and shall always cherish the gift that she bestowed upon us normals in the form of Blackout, I’m not sure I can quite get on board with that.
But MBDTF does come close, maybe closer than any other album released since Blackout. And then a little voice says to me “but what about 808s?” and then I go spiralling into that CRISIS again.
Okay, so I have to get a Britney album and a Kanye album now. Happy?
Yeah, it’s true.
Speaking of people supporting crazy artists, Prince is a whole ball of whack, but when you’re that good, it just doesn’t matter. I don’t know if Kanye is at that level, but I don’t listen to an artist’s personality.
