Do you like lumpy mashed potatoes?

Looks like I’m sharing this board with a bunch of weirdo’s. Lumpy Mash?

Mash has to be silky smooth, Ever since I bought myself a ricer a few years back, I haven’t looked back, its so much easier than doing it with a hand masher.

Lumps are good. I still have teeth, and I believe chewing is part of the pleasure of eating. Potatoes can be cooked in a myriad of ways that leave them with more texture than wallpaper paste, so I usually eschew ingestion of the nearly fluid varieties of “whipped” potatoes.

I’m assuming you like lumps in your pudding, your yogurt, your ice cream, your creme brulee, your chocolate pie, your whipped cream, etc.?

My point is that I believe “smooth” mashed potatoes are the nadir of the tuber’s preparations. Do you like whipped steak or pureed turkey?

I’ve said this before in other topics, but I’ll say it again because I never understand or get posts like this:
The topic title is written so that it’s automatically implied that anyone opening the thread will already like mashed potatoes, so there is no need for a “I don’t like mashed potatoes” option.

“Do you like lumpy mashed potatoes” basically says “Okay, so you ALREADY LIKE mashed potatoes in general…but do you prefer them lumpy or not?”. The first part (before the ellipses) is implied.

Amen brother. My wife blurs the two, and all I can think of is that it should be lumpier, or smoother.

Every so often, I break out the ricer, and make a batch of super-smooth, super-buttery mashed potatoes, just because I like them.
