Do you prefer college or pro football, and where do you live?

Down here in southeast Georgia, it is SEC football. Any football discussion is going to revolve around SEC teams or college football in general. We watch the NFL, and like it, but we care about the college game more. My college team is Auburn and my pro team is Atlanta, but if I had a choice in tickets, I’m going to say “War Damn Eagle”

My question is this: What regions of the U.S. prefer watching the NFL and which ones prefer NCAA?

I don’t think one is necessarily better than the other, but they are a bit different, and I am curious to know how it changes by region.

Recent similar thread.

I am more interested in preferences by region. People in the southeast tend to follow college. What do people in New England, the midwest, or the west like?

I live in southeastern NC and like pro football. I am offended by your generalization

Sorry, buddy, but I don’t consider North Carolina the “southeast”. Besides, the Tarheels would be eaten alive in the SEC.

I prefer college football, and there are five D1 football schools within 100 miles of me, but there is no question that this is Bronco territory. The whole region is Bronco territory, actually - Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana, Utah - they all follow the Broncos. It’s a huge part of the country geographically, although sparsely populated.

I will watch college, but prefer pro. I live in PA

Pro.

I live a little ways south of Green Bay.

Qadgop the Packerfan.

I live outside Detroit. I much prefer Pro. I get annoyed at the bad play of college teams. Missed tackles are common. Poor play abounds. The pro game is a much better game.
I watch college too following u of m and MSU. I want them to win, but they do not keep my interest like the pro game.

SF Bay Area, Pro ( the local 49ers and Raiders, mostly ). I almost never watch college ball, despite the proximity of Cal and Stanford.

Oddly enough, I mostly have the opposite habits these days when it comes to basketball.

Reno, Nevada, and I only watch pro football. I live within walking distance of the University of Nevada’s stadium, but I’ve only ever been to one Nevada game in the almost ten years I’ve lived here.

I grew up in Baltimore, if you’re looking for formative years rather than present location.

Pro. Upstate NY.

Detroit, Michigan again. I also prefer the pro game. To me, it is a matter of quality.

Phoenix, AZ. Pro. I’ve lost most interest in college football with all the scandals and conference realignment. Also, a lot of my interest in the NFL is driven from fantasy football.

I grew up just outside of Detroit, but I prefer college (see username). The Lions broke my heart too many times while Saturdays were full of cheers.

Milwaukee, and I personally prefer college football (not a fan the local squadron, though), but the Packers and NFL are obviously king here.

Grew up in Green Bay, now live in suburban Chicago. I’m a Packer season ticket holder and shareholder. I like college football (I went to a Big Ten school – Wisconsin, and there are four BCS schools within 2 hours of here), but I prefer pro football.

The last hour has shown why college football is so much better than the NFL.

I am in South Carolina and I prefer college football, but just the games themselves. On Saturdays from noon to after midnight, college football is nearly perfect. The other six days of the week and the end of the season are weak.

The NFL has a much better postseason and I follow it more year-round.

Amen. Holy shit. Numbers 2, 4, and 5 all went down. I love the chaos.

However, it’s not my intention to start a NCAA vs NFL discussion. We’ve done that often enough, and we’ve all heard the arguments for both. The purpose of this thread is to develop a half-assed map of which state prefers which. Stereotypically, Alabama is going to like the college game due to Auburn and the Crimson Tide. Wisconsin is probably going to root for the Packers more than they do for the Badgers, though the Badgers are pretty goddamn good.
