Do you Ravelry?

Okay, I just noticed that you had the SDMB group link in the OP. Good grief, I’m losing my mind…I’ve been doing stuff like that all morning and it’s not even 10 a.m. yet.

I’m there and a member of your community! I’m h0taru over there (and in most other non-SDMB places… kind of makes me think of changing my username here…). I agree with others that Ravelry’s been great for giving me confidence. When I joined, I’d only done basic scarves and one headwrap that had a simple ruffled lace edge. Since then, I’ve done socks, am doing a couple of hats and have plans for a sweater and shrug. I love reading the, “If you like the pattern, just go for it!” attitude. It’s actually helping my timid and insecure knitting persona turn confident!

Didn’t think I would bother joining Ravelry once I found out I would have to wait for an invite, but I signed up and it only took about 2 weeks or so to get the invite!

I am so happy I found that place! I surf the patterns for what seems like hours, oogling and drooling over the different projects. I like to “fave” things and add to the “que”. I even listed all of my sock yarn when I lovingly checked each ball for possible moth damage during a relatively recent moth scare.

I would have more finished objects if I didn’t surf and dream in Ravely so much.

My name there is Dexi!

Just requested an invite. Can’t wait!

The pattern search is one of the best parts of Ravelry for me. I love seeing what other people have done with a pattern, and it’s great to see how a given pattern looks on different body types.

I too Ravel, but not well; no digital camera/time to log stash, WIPs, or FOs. I do enjoy looking at what other people have done and comparing their results with my own. Over there I am Carolinhumboldt. I will join the SDMB group. I love that the Terry Pratchett group created a discworld-themed afghan for him. They had it completed before I even discovered the group, cause I’m quick like that.

Um Hi! I’m sure no one remembers me from here but I figured “what the hay might as well say howdy.”

I’m KittyMcKnitsalot over at Ravelry. And currently I’m more active in the Scentinistas group where we lust after the oily goodness that is BPAL, Possets, Blooddrop and Happy Housewife.

I need to get back to knitting.
Kae

I am on Ravelry, but almost never log in. It’s simply too dangerous to encourage myself to think about knitting any more than I already do. Just last night I got an order of eight different heathered colors of Cascade 220, to knit lots and lots and lots of wooly caps with. I’ve spent all of today so far summoning up the willpower to not order more. It’s so beautiful… so gorgeous… I wish I could eat it… mmmmmmmmmmmm grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (takes a bite out of a skein)

Okay, this thread inspired me to go outside, sit in the sunshine yesterday and pick up all the stitches I’d dropped off my sock when I stupidly yanked out the wrong needle to use to poke a hole in something…back in May…And Now I’m knitting again. Must be the change in the weather…

I’m so excited! My best friend (20+ years) just started knitting. I spend the morning at her house helping her figure out how to read and follow a pattern. She’s making a wash cloth…a good beginner project.

We spent about an hour together on Ravelry…she’s signing up!

Great- be sure to join the group when you get it!

FYI, I changed the group name to better reflect the people who are joining. We’re still skanks, but now we are:

http://www.ravelry.com/groups/knitty-spinny-skanks-from-lj-and-sdmb

Knitty spinny skanks from LJ and SDMB

Same group, different name is all. Can’t wait to see everyone there!

Thanks - this thread inspired me to join - and I just got my invite.
I’m the slightly different theLadyj over there.

So… yeah. After last posting in this thread, I logged into Ravelry. I’ve now decided that I’m knitting Arwen, in addition to the… oh… three or four other sweaters I already have on the needles.

sigh.

My Arwen has been languishing.

Mainly because I decided I don’t like the yarn I chose so much after all (I saw a sweater someone knit with it, and though the sweater was nice the colour all knit up made me shudder, and I was leery about it anyway after working with it a bit. I’ve only done the back and some of the right side… not much at all).

I will knit a sweater for myself, one of these days. For the moment I’ve got socks, my son’s sweater, two shawls and a scarf on the needles…

Hmm, what yarn and color are you using? Just in case one of us using it too  ?

I’m thinking I’ll use Cascade 220 in “Sparrow”, right now. I’m knitting a Habitat with C220 right now, and it’s okie-dokie for cabling and, gee golly, the heather colors are so beautiful that I wish I could eat it.

I can’t think of it offhand. It was a nice Cashmerino, in a berry colour. I made a sweater for my son out of it in Kale, and it was great.

Maybe I should rip it out and start again, try something different with it. I don’t like having that much of one yarn hanging out in my stash for nothing. Or I should just restart the Arwen and see if I like it better. I need to knit it smaller anyway, because I’m about 2 or 3 inches smaller than I was when I started it…

I’m Arsie on Ravelry, you can see it in my stash and unfinished projects.
