Do you REALLY want that message in your ad?

Here’s a new Taco Bell ad (actually starts 16 seconds into that link). In the ad, a new taco is printed in the guys’ living room with a new 3D food printer.

Really? You think that getting into people’s heads that your food is artificially manufactured with no actual connection to real meat or vegetables or grains is a good idea? I mean, everyone already thinks that, but is reinforcing it a clever strategy?

I think that commercial communicated that message as effectively as the taco bell commercials of my youth taught me that chihuahuas can talk and always want taco bell. That is to say, not at all.

Cite? I personally have pressure cooked raw beans for a Taco Bell franchise location.

I just made a juicy steak in my 3D printer. Is that bad? Should I throw it out?

Reading comprehension. Practice makes perfect.
Personally, I think it looks more like a Taco Bell replicator than a 3D printer. This could potentially be an excellent source of product-placement revenue for bringing Star Trek back to TV.

1: I think people get it’s an over the top joke. (and pretty amusing)

2: I really don’t think Taco Bell is too caught up in the “freshness” push. People eating Taco bell are not under any illusions.

Yeah, Taco Bell mostly markets themselves as convenience food. I don’t think they care about the whole “freshness” campaign pushed by other fast food. Maybe they would be if they had any real competition in their area of specialty.

Those guys are not normal.

It’s sort of off-topic, but I was thinking exactly what the OP was thinking, except for a different commercial and product. Trojan is running some radio spots locally, talking up the thinness of their condoms, and at one point a girl says, “It felt like there was nothing there.” And yeah, you get what she means, but at the same time it’s not quite the message you want to hear from a girl if you’re a guy.
