I share a bedroom with my SO. I also, however, keep my clothes in the closets and dressers of another bedroom (which I call “my bedroom”). Life is complicated.
Share bedroom, but both of us have our own offices which are our “rooms.” I’d be sorta bummed if I didn’t have at least one spot in the house that was ALL MINE, if only because I want to clutter and not have anyone on my back about it.
Share a bedroom except when he is snoring. Then he shares the couch with the dog. When I was growing up I had my own room. I kinda wish I did now, too. Not because of my husband or anything - it’d just be nice to have my own “space” I guess.
I currently live alone, but I generally try to have a bedroom to myself even when sharing accommodations. Not for my comfort, mainly, but for others–my snoring has been described in seismic terms, although I snore less now than I once did.
I think most people actually need this to some extent, and I have to wonder how much relationship stress arises from not having it. Not necessarily a bedroom, but an area that is yours alone, where you can go to get away from everyone. Too much togetherness can be toxic.
I was recently in a dorm-type situation where I had to share a room with a bunch of other people. There were not enough beds in the snorer’s room, so they had to set up a second one – and I ended up having it to myself.
I actually have trouble when I do have to share a bedroom with someone else (trips, etc.) I’m sometimes kept awake by others’ snoring, even though I do always wear earplugs when sleeping in a room with someone else. This may sound silly, but I can also be self-conscious about sleeping when there are other people in the room, because I tend to do some unpleasant things in my sleep - I snore myself sometimes, and I think I may also drool.
I have even more trouble when I actually have to share a bed with someone, because when I’m by myself, I like to have all of the blanket tucked around me.
I really should’ve put “I share a bedroom with my pet” as one of the options.
I have 2 cats, but I don’t like to let them in my bedroom, because I’m afraid that they’ll get trapped in there with the door closed when I’m not around.
Shared a bedroom with my brother growing up, then with my roommate for the first two years of college. We’ve since moved into an apartment with private bedrooms.
