Do you shower every day?

I can’t shower every day in the Winter, because my skin is too dry. I shower every other day, and on non shower days, I wash all of the necessary areas at the sink.

In the Summer I shower every day, sometimes twice.

Procrustus, huh?

Years ago, I got into the habit of showering twice a day. It is a habit I continue. Once in awhile, I’ll feel guilty about it and try to skip one, but I just can’t do it. I just can’t rest at night if I haven’t at least rinsed off and a shower is part of my dressing routine and always has been.

I like showers.

This. There are days when my hot shower is the most pleasurable part of my day.

Daily. Sometimes twice if I get really sweaty / dirty during the day.

Why the guilt? Are you trying to cut the cost of your water bill or did the government tell you to conserve water while they issue building permits for hundreds of new homes?

I shower once every other day. I hardly ever sweat, and my hair/skin is pretty dry. Plus, my hair is long and really thick - past the point of “oh, thick hair is nice” to just annoying and hard to manage. Unless I spend 15-30 minutes just standing under water, repetitively scrubbing my scalp, the shampoo won’t completely wash out.

Daily bathing plays absolute hell on a lot of people’s skin. For those folks, rinsing away the natural protective oils on a daily basis is a bad move to be avoided. Water is actually a drying agent for skin, and soaps also aggravate the process by accelerating loss of skin oil.

When such people need to bathe daily (or more) due to excessive sweat/dirt/other exposures, said showers should be very brief, and a very mild soap used sparingly.

For the vast majority of people, daily bathing is not medically necessary. Aesthetics are a different issue.

My skin does get dried out during the winter after I shower.

Lotion is the best invention ever.

I like showers, I have one every morning and I just don’t feel right until I do.

If i’m working physically and get up a heavy sweat, I’ll have another in the afternoon once I’m finished.

Yup every day. Sometimes at night, sometimes in morning, sometimes in the middle of the day. But almost always at least once a day.

It depends, a lot. In a hot humid climate I’ll shower at least once a day (one place I lived I showered before work, immediately after work and then before bed), in a dry cold climate once every two days. If I’m doing my normal job then I have fewer showers, if doing a lot of activity then more. If the shower is decent then more, if it’s a plastic tube which usually supplies the washing machine (that apartment was really crappy), then fewer.

Here’s part II of it. My showers are quick. If it is a full shower, with hair washing and everything, I might be in there for all of seven minutes. Otherwise it’s a quick hop in and out. I can take a three minute shower and be quite clean.

I don’t know why or how people take such long showers. Don’t you get bored? I do. I tried taking a reaaaally long shower once. I was tired and hot. I timed myself. I was in there ten minutes.

I also don’t use regular soap, but I use Tom’s sensitive formula, and don’t use it on all parts - that is, I don’t soap up my back every day, since I have crazy dry skin back there.
