Do you think people would notice if YOU stopped posting?

This may be better suited for IMHO. If so, sorry it’s here and I obviously wouldn’t mind it moved, but although it’s a poll of sorts, it’s kind of a pointless/nonimportant poll.

Basically, after reading this thread where people ask where Lissa is it makes me wonder. Would people notice if I didn’t post for, say, two weeks? I like to think so, but then I think “eh, you’re nobody. You’re not really a regular or prolific poster.” So I don’t really know.

But what about you? What if you just up and vanished from the boards for about 12 or 14 days. Do you think you make enough of a difference on the boards that people would realize and notice you weren’t around?

And don’t play humble. :stuck_out_tongue: If you really think people would notice, say so. I can’t imagine, for instance Liberal or Samperio replying to this thread and saying “Nah, nobody would notice.”

Me, like I said, I doubt anyone would really make a fuss.

I don’t really post enough and my posts aren’t all that memorable. Heck, you’ve forgotten this one before you’ve even finished reading it, haven’t you.

Nope, no one would miss me.

Nah.

Nah, I don’t think so – nor would I expect anyone to. If anyone did notice, I think it would be after quite a while.

Welcome, all of you! It’s nice to see some new faces around here!

p.s. No, nobody would notice my absence.

I don’t think anyone would miss me either. Of course 90% of my posts are in GQ (I must branch out), so I don’t think I’ve devolped a ‘personality’ yet. I haven’t really had any feuds with anyone, never been pitted, don’t have any specific area of expertise so no one is looking for me to answer a question, I don’t hang around in 10 page long threads…etc etc etc.

I highly doubt it, but then I don’t tend to keep track of other posters either. I can’t think of any posts I’ve made that make me stand out or anything.

Frankly I’d be shocked if anyone took notice of me at all.

No. I know because I have stopped a few times over the years.

I sincerely doubt it.

Nobody would notice, well, except everyone wondering where the hell I went in the Mafia game.

They’d only notice if I started a post and didn’t f

I suspect that after a year or so of no posts from me, somebody might say “Hey – that guy with the weird sig lines. Whatever happened to him?”
Or
“Hey – that was an optics question. Didn’t we have an optics guy, somewhere?”

Or

“What was the name of that obscure horror film? Wasn’t there somebody who knew a bunch of those?”

But better than even odds they wouldn’t remember my name.

At least one person would. Likely several. I’d like to think that the same group would notice if I left.

Possibly, if a non-pit firearms or Freemason related thread happened in that time frame some of the regulars to those might notice.

I’d notice after a while. Of the Durgin Park cohort, I think about all of you occasionally. In fact there are two who I haven’t seen post in quite some time.

no.

Maybe I should make longer posts?

I’d remember you. Your style and areas of expertise are more distinctive than you realize.

I’ve dropped off the board for a few months, and no one said anything. That was before I was in the weekly poker game; that crowd might notice if I disappeared now.

Besides Lissa, who else is in the whatever-happened-to category? I sometimes wonder whatever became of SwimmingRiddles.

I’ve always assumed that I’m completely forgotten the moment I walk out of a room, wheather physically, or virtually.

Someone did notice when I didn’t post for a while, so I guess there’s at least one.

Not in the least.
