I’d like to think I’d be missed eventually, but probably not…and probably only by the admin folks when my subscription was due for payment.
If someone noticed I stopped posting,. that means I have been posting way too much, which would mean I need to get a life,. which would mean I need to stop posting,. which I would have stopped long enough for someone to notice,. which means the intervention already took place.
It was noticed. At least, I noticed. Does it count, coming as it does from one of the least visible posters?
I tend to wonder about Dopers with memorable names if I haven’t seen them around for a while, and may fret vaguely and hope that everything’s OK. I guess the fretting just isn’t strong enough to cause me to start a thread, and there’s always the feeling that the absent Doper is probably having a high old time in a thread that I just never opened.
A couple of people noticed when I took an unannounced break, so maybe that would happen again. I’d kind of wish for the opposite though - to be able to slip away unheeded.
People would suspect I was up to something evil.
The menfolk would quietly cock their guns.
The womenfolk would nervously check that no one was stealing their knickers.
I would be watching the skies for evil flying monkeys.
They hardly notice when I do post.
Like who? Prove it!
I just wanted to mention that I’ve noticed many persons of the henching persuasion in this thread. I’d like each and every one of you to know that I would (indeed) “notice” if you stopped posting. And of course, by “notice” I mean I’d have you drug back to the Volcano and tortured.
You know who you are.
Nobody important.
Say, has anyone heard of HokkaidoBrit lately?
With all great support I had last year with everything that happened, I suspect that people would wonder for a while how we’re doing.
Normally, I don’t contribute that much, other than a particular religion and whenever my adopted country comes up.
Of course, someone has to say it, but while there may be debates if people notice if you stop, but there is no question who would be missed by the sheep.
I already know they wouldn’t. I didn’t re-up my charter membership either last year or the year before, and was lurking occasionally for six months.
All sort of threads I usually participated in actively occurred, a couple NASA threads, most of a season of The Amazing Race. I don’t think anyone even mentioned me, during my absence or upon my return.
I honestly don’t know. I supposed that my absence might be noted in the pro-life/pro-choice threads.
P.S. Who are you people?
I have noticed that neither Dung Beetle nor Jayne_Newell have posted to this thread yet.
In fact, has anyone seen Jayne at all lately?
Nah. Little of what I say is of enough interest to stick with anyone, and my relatively narrow areas of expertise doesn’t make me much of a GQ player, so my disappearance likely wouldn’t ripple the genepool any.
Not unless “heaving a sigh of relief” counts as “noticing”.
Regards,
Shodan
Only Badchad would notice…
Well I have see **Dung Beetle ** in several threads recently, I don’t know about Jayne_Newell, but Jayn_Newell *Last Activity: 05-03-2007 07:24 PM *
bobbio and boofae, c’mon how could we miss the regular fire-eatin and fire-beatin stories.
As all the other MMPers have said, I think I’d be noticed come up missin sooner or later. Anybody seen that fella rue???
I’m POSITIVE that if I stopped posting there would be much gnashing of teeth in the outer darkness.
No.
Really.
