Actually I think 40 replies is pretty good. How many posts get pushed to page 2 and beyond with fewer than that? Plus we all know that there are 6000 people registered but they aren’t posting here every single minute of the day. How many of those are active posters? It seems like on the weekend the number of posters diminishes greatly.

Don’t you think you’re stretching it a bit Wally? So far only one person has protested that sig. I wouldn’t exactly call lswote a mild poster. This is the same person who said “Well you women have made Cecil’s job easier. He was wondering where he was going to find a group of hags he could survey about why ugly women all tend to go on the rag at the same time.” Besides, there were many others who ignored the sig line it or thought it was funny. Many of who don’t have the same beliefs as Jenkinsfan.
Personally I could care less if he stays or goes. I’d like to think that we’re accepting of all people regardless of their religious or personal beliefs. If we can’t accept a person’s beliefs or just don’t like the way that person chooses to express them, why can’t we just ignore them? You aren’t going to change JF’s belief and he’s not going to change yours. You’ve embroiled yourself in a circular argument that has no possible hope of any constructive resolution. Agree to disagree and go on.
No! But: argue a little scripture(instead of just witnessing), and post on stuff like “why I hate rutabagas”.

Tibetan Shepard, Soulfrost, Nyc Native, Drainy(When they were there),Fred, THINK HARDER, and SAGE have questioned established truths and none were banned. The ones who were banned where cast out because of the mean way they questioned other’s beliefs. If you want to, you can go there and say that you don’t believe in God-whatever, and as long as you’re respectful, you won’t get banned.
I’ve seen a couple of posters banned who in my opinion were not “mean.”
Yet they were “cast out.”
I’ve said my piece and I stand by every word. Two of my favourite posters, Grace and Shayna, have disagreed with me, but as far as I’m concerned, those friendships are not in jeopardy.
We have opinions. That’s what this board is for. If you view a contrary opinion as an attack, that’s your problem.
I don’t think Wally was referring to me when he spoke about “the mildest poster”. I just happened to be the person in this thread who mentioned jenkinsfan’s former sig. And as far as the remark you mention, I regret saying it because it was a backhanded insult directed at a couple particular people and I didn’t think through beforehand the fact that everyone would be offended. Something I said in the pit ended up as a thread topic in MPSIMS and I was pretty upset and tried to lash out at the people who I felt enflamed things. I realized too late I should have just taken my lumps or directed my flames unambiguously at who I was offended by, but I can’t undo the way I handled it. I have stayed off the board for awhile to let things cool down and to let myself gain some perspective on things so I hope that has some value in mitigating that situation.
As far as jenkinsfan goes, I realize many people don’t think jenkinsfan’s sig line was a big deal. I guess just like former smokers are sometimes the biggest protesters of people who continue to smoke, former Christians, of which I am one, are probably the biggest protesters of Christians and are the least tolerant of arrogant positions taken by them.
This thread has served it’s purpose and as far as I’m concerned its usefulness is dead. I’ll no longer be responding to any posts here.

I’d like to add my voice to the chorus of those encouraging you to stay here at the SDMB. I saw Satan’s thread and figured that it was accurate, but so what. I think you’re a valuable contributor with a distinctive point of view.
I am no particular fan of witnessing (quite the opposite, in fact), but in the robust discussions and debates we have on this board, I find it useful to hear a strong fundamentalist voice, even if I disagree with some of the opinions you express. I find your posts to be interesting and in keeping with the tone of the board. Importantly, you make your point, but do not become embroiled in trying to force others into agreement by frequent, repetitve posts.
If you are not interested in sharing the type of underwear you wear (or whatever else happens to be the MPSIMS topic of the day), that’s fine with me because there are plenty of people more than willing to go into incredible detail about their prefered style, color and degree of crustyness. And frankly the persuasiveness of your religious posts is not changed a bit by whether I know that you wear boxers or briefs.
On the other hand, if there are non-religious things you wish to discuss, by all means jump in. I found your soda can shooting thread interesting, and was surprised by the number of backyard shooters we have (though by now I shouldn’t be surprised at the number of people that will turn up having experience with any particular thing here anymore). Living in New York City, it’s not something that I have much chance to participate in, but maybe other common interests will come up.
Anyway, I’d strongly encourage you to stick around and post however you care to. Don’t let the others get you down.

Jenk, this should help. You left out the quotation marks that bookend the url. Of course, you’ll not want all those square brackets; you had that part coded correctly. The quotes are the only thing that is different than UBB. It can be confusing when you are using both systems.

In any place there will be those who don’t want to listen to you, no matter what you have to say, and there will be those who will listen/think about it/laugh about it/forget about it quickly. That is life, isn’t it??
