There is no simple answer. Afghanistan, yes. Iraq, I didn’t support the invasion, but I don’t believe that we can simply pull out now.

  1. To borrow from A.R. Cane, who articulated it better than I, “Iraq, I didn’t support the invasion, but I don’t believe that we can simply pull out now.” (I didn’t support Afganistan, though, and I want out of Iraq as soon as possible without creating a bigger disaster.)

1 : Afghanistan yes, Iraq no. We should bring back our weapons and equipment, and leave the disarmed soldiers behind for the Iraqis to deal with as they see fit. After all, if they love us for “liberating” them so much, surely the’ll just send the soldiers home.

I do support the troops and it pains me that they have to be over there at all, which is mainly why I don’t support it. That and the cost, and the loss of innocent lives.

A little; other people were commenting on what should be done, so I commented. Realistically, as little sympathy as I have for the soldiers I’d just bring them home. Given the constant rhetoric from the pro war types, I find my earlier idea a nice fantasy. I’m always hearing claims that the vast majority of Iraqis just love us; if that were true they would send the soldiers home.

  1. No, I haven’t supported the war in Iraq from the beginning because I suspected it would wind up the way it has. It figures this would be one of the few times I’m right when I predict world events. :rolleyes: I did support the war in Afghanistan.
