To be fair Christians do tend to practice FGM right alongside animists and Muslims where it occurs. So in Egypt one estimate is that is praticed by 92% of Muslims and 72% of Coptic Christians. In Ethiopia the prevalence among Muslims is 65%, among neighboring Orthodox Christians 45% and at one time it was practiced by the Beta Israel Jews of Ethiopia as well.
The Nawoodi Bohras are a little unusual in that they are a rather insular sect that practice the tradition in an area where it is not common. Indeed one wonders if the Bohras ( a subset of the Isma’ili Shi’a sect ) in fact picked up the practice in Egypt - they claim religious descent from the Fatimid dynasty of Egypt. However that doesn’t much jibe with the much larger and more cosmopolitan Isam’ili sect of the Nizaris who don’t practive it at all.

Pretty much, yes. And apparently almost immediately, which is a cheery thought. Would that the same had happened with those Bohra families had as well. But again, insular sects can be a different kettle of fish and old habits die hard.
When the HPV vaccines were first popularized in my state, many fundamentalists Christians were against giving the vaccines to the daughters because they felt it would be condoning premarital sex. Deliberately exposing a young girl to cervical cancer in order to maintain chastity comes very close to being willing to mutilate her genitals in my opinion.
