Eccleston only signed up to do one season. He was afraid that he might get “typecast”. Bad career move on his part, IMNSHO.
BTW, the new (tenth) Doctor, David Tennant, played Barty Crouch, Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. That’s why he looked so familiar, even though we only saw him for about 10 seconds after the rejuvenation. He was actually considered as the ninth Doctor, but TPTB went with Eccleston instead.

Unless stated otherwise, “open spoilers” tend to refer to the episode being discussed (and, in most cases, the preceding episodes). I added spoiler tags around your post; it seems like, based on the number of e-mails I’ve seen this morning, you dropped in a big ol’ spoiler for upcoming episodes here in the States. It’s not like you’re kicking puppies or anything, but please be aware that, apparently, the U.S. is a year behind the U.K. for Dr. Who episodes. (At least, that’s what I’ve gathered from reading this thread.)
Skip, might I suggest that you title the spoiler as being about the character Rose? That way, anyone who wants to know can read it, while others can choose to wonder for a year or more. Just a thought…

I understand. On a personal note, I always labeled my threads about current shows as spoiler threads. If I’ve ever inadvertantly spoiled something big for a Trek, Firefly, or other Sci-Fi stuff fan, I apologise.
