Doctor Who to be cancelled? Well, no actually...

The UK newspaper The Sun came out with an article claiming Russell T Davies, the man responsible for bring Doctor Who back to TV and who has been executive producing it, is tired and wants it all to end, and they’re planning a mass exodus, which would cause the show to be cancelled. Though they’re talking about after a fourth season, which would be late next year.

The Guardian, which has actual real quotes from real people, countered that article by saying it’s simply not been decided what is going to happen with Russ, as all that’s actually happened is his current contract ends then, and beyond that no decisions have been made.

Personally, I think fresh blood would be a good idea, risky though that kind of situation is. But I thought I’d start this thread just so people don’t only hear one side of the story. Instead, you now have 1.5 sides.

Surely the series, like the Doctor, can regenerate.

I don’t think anyone is taking the Sun article seriously…a mass exodus, if it even happened, wouldn’t be enough to kill what is one of the most popular and award winning programs in Britain right now.

They’d start again, fresh. In a way, that’s what Torchwood is about.

If they did start fresh, they could (and probably should) go back and revise the Time War, and bring back the rest of (or some of) the Time Lords back. Hell, given the tendency of Russell and friends to keep bringing back the “extinct” Daleks, it’s only fair.

Russell thinks that he owns DW. Doctor Who is larger than Davies. He’s tired of it, and doesn’t want anyone else mucking with it. In a way, I can sympathize.

While they’re at it, bring back Rose. Dammit.
