does any one else here collect shot glasses?

hi! im new to this message board; my sister convinced me to join. Im from Montreal, Canada and i collect shot glasses from different places around the world that says where its from on it. I was wondering if anyone else here collects them aswell, it would be cool to send eachother shot glasses from where we live! or if you collect something else, we can try to arrange a trade. anywhoo, i think it would be fun… get back to me…
crys

Nope Crystal, it’s just you.

Bwa! Hahahahaha! I crack me up! Also, I collect them my own self. And the Sibs and the folks pick them up for me when they go places. I got a “cow” glass from Iowa that way and a shot glass full of pig (it’s a little pig sculpture in the bottom, it’s not an ounce of pork).

Who’s your sister? I’m just nosey.

hi!

Well, if you ever want one from Montreal, let me know, and we can swap! My sister’s name in this site is antigen.

All those shot glasses and yet she never throws a tequila party. :frowning:

My sister does the exact same thing. I think she’s up to 70 or so now. It scares me because when she does start drinking, she’ll probably have well over a hundred, which must be extremely tempting. She’s only 13 now…

I don’t. Collect shot glasses, I mean, but I have some friends that do.
I have a question for you, c_r_y_s_t_a_l: What makes a shot glass special? Should there be something written on it? Around here [Netherlands] we don’t actually use shot glasses, but have ‘jenever’ glasses. Nothing written on them, mostly, just different shapes. Are those interesting, or should I keep them to myself?

Welcome aboard, btw.

My daughter has collected a few - I need to point her to this thread.

Welcome to our sandbox, c_r_y_s_t_a_l!

Thanks for the welcome!!

i’m not sure why i collect them, i barely ever have a drink! It all started a few years ago when i bought a shot glass for my sister (antigen) as a souvenir from when i visited the maritimes. It was a normal shot glass but it had a plastic lobster hanging on to it. she hated it, but the damn thing cost me like 20 bucks, and i thought it was cute! i thought it was so cute that the entire trip home i kinda wished i had gotten myself one. So when she told me she didnt like it, i was a tad relieved, and thus started the beginning of my collection!
I’m sure your glasses are cool, but the ones i collect have to say where theyre from on it. i know its corny, but we all have our obsessions  do you collect anything?

Hey, cool! My mom & stepdad have an antique & collectables store in Arkansas and sells stuff like this.

I’ve been working on her website over the past few weeks. Deer Crossing - there’s shot glass pics on this page.

Good timing, too, cuz I just noticed a few broken pics I’ll need to fix.

thats cool! i went to the link. When you’re done working on the website, will people be able to order online? (and ship internationally?)

I just asked my mom if she’d ship to Canada and she said sure. Their collectable shot glasses run from $3 to $5 (US) and they charge actual shipping costs - no handling.

If there’s anything in particular you’re looking for send Sam (my stepdad) and email and he’ll see if he’s got it or if he can get it for you. sam@dearcrossing.com

As far as ordering online - my web design skills haven’t quite gotten that far yet, but I’m working on it. This website will be the never-ending project, I fear.

Glad you liked the site! Its only my second one and I’m learning new stuff every day.

c_r_y_s_t_a_l I collect a lot. Books, mostly. I’m sorry I can’t help you with a shot glass from my part of the world.

sperfur Thanks for the link. Now I know what shot glasses really are.

I had never heard of anyone collecting shot glasses until just last month when my granddaughter bought one for a friend when we were in Paris. I didn’t know that souvenier shot glasses were even made!

what kind of books do you collect?

I think your collection is admirable. I will look for an Aussie shot glass for you (the only one I have is for Cougar Bourbon). I have a friend who collects snow domes, with really crappy representations of different places that are engulfed by a snowstorm when you shake them. He prefers places like Las Vegas or Cairo, that never see snow. To top it off he collects early Australian furniture and has his “display” in an extremely valuable bit of colonial art.

thats really cool!
Well if you look for an aussie shot glass for me, what can i send you from canada?!

Zoe, neither did I. So, there might be a chance on a Dutch shot glass, huh. Got to visit a souvenir store. [which I hate, during this time of year. ]

c_r_y_s_t_a_l Obviously you got to get don’t ask a snow dome. Pretend it never snows in Canada.
Oh, I collect a lot of different types of books. Old Charles Dickens books and books by the Dutch author/artist Marten Toonder

I’ll do a search for shooters in a souvenir shop, okay?

snow domes are cool, but dont ask said that his friend collects them, i dont mind getting a snow dome, but i just thought id ask incase he wanted something for himself…
Thanks gum for looking for a shot glass!!!.. i can check old bookstores to see if i find something there, but if not, any souvenire you want??

*Thanks for the offer, *c_r_y_s_t_a_l. *That’s real nice. I don’t want to hijack your thread any further. Is it okay if I mail you - or you, me? *

So…Does anyone else here collect shot glasses?

I collect shot glasses. I don’t have very many yet, though. I have one from the M&M store in Vegas. I forgot to buy one from the Mirage Hotel! I have one from Scotland that a friend brought back for me. It has a picture of Nessie on it. I have one from the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, that my friend brought back for me. It is the hotel that the movie The Shining with Jack Nicholson was filmed. I have one from Cancun, that a coworker gave me. I have one from the Boot Hill Saloon in Daytona Beach, Florida.

I also have some that are just from local liquor stores here in Houston. Welcome to the Board, c_r_y_s_t_a_l.
