Does anyone else here watch Oz?

Man, is Oz the best show on TV now or what? Does anyone else watch it?

It’s a great show indeed, but the new season (Season 5 here)doesn’t start until January.

I think we’re still on Season 4 in the UK. But I’ve only been watching it for about a year anyway so I could be wrong. I’ve been looking for it on video but can’t find it anywhere (unsurprisingly)

Love it. I also think the opening song is ten times better than The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Curb Your Enthusiasm, etc.

Can’t wait til January.

Season 1 is on DVD here in the States, and Season 2 will be released in January, timed to coincide with the season debut.

I’m a total Oz addict. Mr. Sea calls it my porn.

Best? Hardly. but I watch it regularly. It was important to realize that Oz bears about as much similarity to realistic prison life as Ally McBeal did to the legal profession.

Scuse my ignorance, what is Oz?

I read that this might be the last season…the original screenwriter claims he has said everything he wanted to say and that will be the end.
I hope not.
First of all, half of New York actors would be out of work.
Secondly, a great series would end.
Thirdly, it would be a blow to gay soft-porn.
Forthly, don’t make a pun about thirdly.

A drama set in a prison. It’s on Cable only. Optus has it, not sure about Foxtel.

To explain a little further, Oz takes place mostly in “Em City”, an experimental unit where lifers mix in with other criminals and everyone lives in see-through “pods” (cells). I definitely recommend renting the first and second season DVDs for anyone who’s never seen it, as Oz is hands down the most underrated show on television (I’m convinced the only reason Lee Tergeson and Eamonn Walker- Beecher and Said- haven’t gotten Emmy’s is because most judges were horrified by the first five minutes of the tapes they were given to consider). Still, part of me is glad that things are coming to a close, as some of the storylines are getting a bit too ridiculous. I really hope Beecher gets released in the last episode (that fantasy bit with the parole board was such a tease).

Oz is very well done. But I’ve seen about half a dozen episodes.
