That’s awful. I’m so sorry, @puzzlegal
I’m so sorry. That must have been so painful to watch in slow motion throughout the pandemic, not just the loss at the end.
I’m so sorry. Not the hoped-for outcome. Nothing else to say except fuck COVID. Many hugs.
It’s probably with mentioning that while we did bully my mom into getting vaccinated, she was profoundly immune compromised, and the vaccine may not have done anything for her.
It’s important to remember that not everyone CAN protect themselves.
That’s heartbreaking.
I just found out that my nephew has tested positive and my niece probably has it. Hanging out with occasionally my brother has been one of the few pressure valves during this lockdown. I don’t know how long I’m going to have to avoid them all now.
Hopefully only a few weeks. We’re all working our way through it right now (omicron and the school system - not a great combination).
I’m very sorry.
Very, very sorry. Will be holding you in the light.
I’m so sorry, puzzlegal
My sincerest condolences, @puzzlegal.
Ah, geez. I’m so sorry @puzzlegal. I wish there were something we could do.
I’ve had a couple cousins who had it and recovered during the first wave.
Tuesday my best friend, who on Wednesday was going to come to my place to spend a few days with me, called to tell me that her daughter’s boyfriend had just tested positive for COVID. He’d spent Sunday at their house.
Today she told me she and her husband are showing symptoms. Everyone in the house has had all 3 shots. Sounds like (so far) it’s fairly mild, but fuck it, it didn’t have to be this way.
So sorry to hear this, puzzlegal. Sending my condolences.
Condolence and sympathy to everyone who has lost someone.
Mrs. Duality had it last week. We are fully vaxxed and boosted. We didn’t isolate from each other, although we avoided getting kissy. Shared a bed, sat together and so on. I did not get it. Could be because she got Pfizer and I got Moderna. Could also be because I have the Rasta-Zenica ‘vaccine’ every day. Usually she is the one who doesn’t get sick.
Am starting to keep my negative rapid tests for an art project.
I am so very sorry to hear this.
My mother couldn’t breathe in January of 2020. We thought it was pneumonia. It was lung cancer (which was a hell of a diagnosis for a non-smoker). Of course the pandemic hit and we have been so damn careful ever since. I know what will happen if she gets Covid. Thankfully my brother has been able to work from home this entire time and take care of her.
My granddaughter has now been Diagnosed. Looks like a few weeks of quarantine for our household now. She seems to be doing well right now. Hopefully it will stay mild.
My friend who was here from Taiwan visiting his dad and got COVID? They had to postpone their return trip until everyone had recovered (luckily nobody got very sick). He waited until he tested negative here before boarding a flight back to Taipei. Then he started Whatsapping me last night…apparently he had a positive rapid test on arrival at the Taipei airport and was rushed to isolation in an ambulance. The positive test was followed by 2 negative PCR tests, but Taiwan isn’t taking any chances - they will not release him unless he tests negative this coming Thursday!
Even the doctor there says there’s no way he is still contagious, but still, rules are rules. I suppose this level of anal-retentiveness is why Taiwan has fared as well as they have, but it still seems a little bonkers to keep him locked up in isolation for the better part of 2 weeks.
My daughter tested positive 2 days ago and is in quarantine until Friday. Her roommate had tested positive just before Winter break so my girl came home early so he could quarantine in their dorm room vs getting sent home (he has 5 younger siblings, his mom is a nurse).
My daughter is in an accelerated nursing program and would have started her work study/doing rounds this week. We were going to go see her this week-end to celebrate our birthdays (she was born the day before mine) but now I’m not so sure.
A neighbor’s household is Covid positive. Their kids brought it home from daycare.
MIL’s facility is again in quarantine with several residents and staff testing positive.
