Oldest son (who works with husband) stayed home sick with a fever this morning. DH has been riding with him because his winter car is being worked on.
We had a late XMas get together with the in-laws over the week-end. I asked DH to get some of those quick response tests in case oldest has Covid (my in-laws are in their 70-s). He called his mom and she told him his youngest brother tested positive. Same brother who laid down to nap after dinner. Hopefully he and oldest son just got hit by Omicron vs Delta . Fingers crossed nobody else got infected.
My 98-year old uncle got Covid last week, and died of it 5 days later. He was fully vaxxed, but at that age, probably didn’t have the best immune system for the vaccine to work with.
Can you get groceries delivered? That’s what i did, as we were running out of some staples, and we’re quarantining after spending a lot of time with my (infectious) mom as she died.
We are fully vaccinated and boostered and wear masks and 50% of my household have tested positive with Covid after showing symptoms. It’s here to stay and I won’t be surprised if people catch it multiple times per year.
Unfortunately, with the long lasting symptoms and the ease of spreading in the wildlife this is going to be worse than the flu (in the aggregate).
WE’RE IN THE CLUB!!! Does that mean I’m finally one of the cool kids?!?
My wife stated feeling “blah” (as she put it) last Tuesday. Covid test was negative. I started feeling “blah” Thursday/ early Friday. Productive cough, fever, body aches, extreme fatigue. I took a covid test. Negative. I didn’t go into campus and Zoomed my classes instead.
Called out yesterday and today but am feeling much better. We’re down to a bit of lingering cough and I planned on returning to F2F on Thursday. I took a Covid test because an acquaintance of mine who works at an urgent care said that the at-home tests aren’t detecting Omicron until 2 or 3 days after symptoms began.
Positive.
So. I emailed the director and the other faculty and put in a grocery order for tomorrow delivery. I dont know how long our isolation will be, I’ll call my PCP tomorrow AM.
The worst has been the fatigue and, for my wife anyway, the fact that it’s just lingering on and on and on and on.
I just discovered Roku TV and now I have some new stuff to bingewatch, and the time to do it too!
That was my experience. I felt like I was possibly getting a cold for a few days and tested negative each time. The day I tested positive I started feeling worse.
It was my experience too. I tested negative after I started having symptoms. A few days later I tested positive. It’s been a few weeks and I am still infectious. Yay?
A coworker had it, was very sick for a week. Now has unexplained deafness in one ear. Is that a long Covid symptom? She won’t mask and won’t get vaxxed. She also caught it last year.
To my knowledge, I have not had covid. I have had tinnitus for many years, but around my first covid vaccination shot, my tinnitus got worse and has stayed worse. I don’t know if it a coincidence or linked but others on this board have mentioned something similar. So maybe there is something relating covid to hearing?
Same here wguy123. My tinnitus got worse after the first shot (moderna). I still don’t know if it is psychosomatic or real. Some days are worse than others, although nothing loud enough yet that affects my hearing too much.
As for as covid and hearing related, I can certainly see how that could happen. There is definately a link to losing you sense of smell or taste, so it affecting hearing would certainly be in the realm of possibility.
I had Pfizer. I’m pretty sure mine is real. I’ve had tinnitus for many years and it has gotten worse during periods of high stress, but that higher level is now my baseline and it can go up from there. In my work office, I didn’t tend to notice it due to enough background noise from air handlers, etc but now I hear it all the time over that background noise. Now I have to put on music to drown it out.
Yep I posted a separate thread about it a few weeks ago. I got tinnitis for the first time after being sick. It seems to be better now or I’m better at ignoring it.
