This picture is one that has always stuck in my head from that day. Was he ever identified? Was he among those killed?

Famous picture that got a lot of press at the time. He did get out.

I couldn’t find one but I definitely remember it at the time. For a day or two there was buzz about the mystery fireman and then it came out that he got out alive.

A little Google found this. Not the best cite but apparently his name is Mike Kehoe.
