Does anyone know of sites that review Indy music?

I am interested in reading reviews online or in print of music that is not currently owned by corporate music. I think www.dmusic.com offers the option online and North East Performer does the same in print. Are there others out there?

Pitchfork Media
Essential.

They review four albums a day, in addition to news, articles, MP3s.

A great site, where I find at least 50% of the music I buy now.

Very nice! However, this one doesn’t review much self-released material. Do you know of others that do?

Splendid Zine does a lot of indie reviews… not too much on the DIY jobs, though.
The newpaper for my local university radio station usually reviews some amount of self-released stuff… Discorder.

If you want self-released stuff, Delusions of Adequacy usually has some in their weekly updates.

I also like Pitchfork, as any indie kid worth his salt should, and
Lost at Sea : http://www.lostatsea.net/las and
AlmostCool : http://www.almostcool.org/mr/mrindex.html (click on “New” at the top left)
The Onion’s AV Club : http://www.theonionavclub.com
and PopMatters : http://www.popmatters.com
are good, too, I think.

Tiny Mix Tapes is pretty cool, too.

www.nudeasthenews.com is pretty good and generally reasonable. It covers the same broad category as a site like pitchfork, but the writers are less verbose and come across as having more of a genuine interest in music than any desire to impress by affecting scholarship.
