Does anyone reaaly like McDonald's?

I admit, I really like McDonald’s. Big Macs are my greatest weakness, and I’ve been known to eat three or four at a time. Plus supersize fries. I like the Filet-O-Fish, even the weirdness of putting cheese and a pound of tartar sauce on a fish sandwich. I love the breakfast steak, egg and cheese bagels, but my all-time favorite was the Spanish omelette bagel that they don’t carry anymore. I miss it horribly; when I was pregnant, I had that for breakfast three or four times a week.

The Happy Meals are the perfect amount of food for my toddler, and the toys are usually cool if you get the special toy for under-three kids.

If I cared less about health and nutrition, I think I could eat at McD’s at least nine or ten times a week. As it is, I try to limit it to once a month or so. (But I did break down and had a couple of the steak bagels for breakfast last weekend.) Yeah, I’m a freak.

McDonalds is the closest thing to people kibble I have found.

I eat it often enough, but never for the taste. It’s just a convenient way to get some calories into my system without spending a lot of time or money.

I usually order a couple double hamburgers off the dollar menu (or as I am required to call them at my local drive-thru, “double cheeseburgers with no cheese”). Where else can I get lunch for 2 bucks in about 2 minutes?

My kids absolutely love the place though.

McDonalds has achieved such fame that it’s almost hip to make fun of it. Even back in the 70’s I remember Johnny Carson and comedians doing jokes about the burger size, or the service, etc. It’s just an icon to prop up and make jokes about sometimes.

When the ‘health’ craze swept the nation, true to form, people bashed Mickey Dees and then ate there anyway.

You almost have to apologize for liking something like McDonalds. I find Wendy’s burgers far superior. I think BK has a better chicken sammich. I know In n Out is great and eat there when I travel west.

When I order a McDonalds burger, I want a McDonalds burger. It’s good in a McDonalds burger kind of way. Like White Castle…it’s good in a White Castle kind of way - which is to say not very good.

When it comes to breakfast, Mcdees flat out wins, especially with the heart attack and diasbility sammich called the McGriddle.

I used to like it too, but after reading that book over a year ago I haven’t touched a McDonald’s burger. I’ve had a fish sandwich, and I’ve had some fries, but their burgers will never again touch my lips.

I don’t allow my daughter to have them either. If we’re doing fast food, we go to Wendy’s. At least I trust their meat a little more. Still, it’s usually chicken that I order.

I love Mcdonalds and I hate Jack in the Box…but I must admit that a place like “Carl’s JR” or “In N Out” has bigger and better burgers. They have great chicken nuggets and fries and the burgers are really not that bad. Sometimes I just have a taste only McDonalds can satisfy.

I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t really like ANY fast food burgers. I’d much prefer to make burgers at home. For some strange reason, I find fast food burgers to be pretty tasteless, and/or MUCH too salty.

Though I DO like McDonalds shakes and their “homemade” choco chip cookies…

Okay, THIS I don’t get. And I’ve heard a number of people swoon over Micky D fries.

I must have been going to the wrong ones when I did go, because I’ve never had a fry at McDonald’s that wasnt’ a cold, hard, dry, greasy, tasteless little stick.

I don’t know how they do it, but even fresh out of the fryer, they are both dry and cold, AND oily.

The only fry that’s good is Arby’s curly fries. Soft, seasoned (and NOT with a bunch of salt only either, a spicy hot flavor0, and really really fresh.

I think we all agree that McDoanld’s has good breakfasts, but wait a big fat minuite:

There are no more steak bagles are there? Where are there McDoanalds still serving them?

Not if you’re in the South. Hardee’s has the best fast food breakfast, but I DO NOT reccommend eating there after 10am. Blech.

What’s the status on McDonald’s fries by the way? I know awhile back they switched to lowfat oil and they tasted horrible, but now I like them again. Did they go back to the fatty grease or did I just get used to the low fat stuff?

I’m a vegetarian. McDonald’s menu is lacking when it comes to no-meat items, but I don’t hold that against them–nearly all restaurants’ menus are. As such, my order at McDonald’s is always the same: grilled cheese sandwich, french fries, and an apple pie or package of butter cookies.

It’s a gamble whether they’ll know what the “grilled cheese sandwich” is. Some know exactly what it is and have a button on their registers for it. Others don’t have a button, but figure out what’s in it and charge me for its components. Still others haven’t got a clue, have to involve their managers, and the situation usually ends with me having to describe how to make one (“grilled cheese sandwich”, the name pretty well sums up what it is and how it’s made, but some people can be rather dense).

When they manage to cobble one together, it’s quite good. Two bun tops, top to top, with two or three slices of cheese between them, grilled long enough to melt the cheese and firm up the bread but not so long that it begins to darken. It’s rather unique as far as grilled cheese sandwiches go.

Beyond the limited fare, I have no complaints.

(For breakfast, drop the pie/cookies, change “sandwich” to “biscuit”, and substitute a hashbrown for french fries)

I am SOOO coming to your house so we can go to McD’s for breakfast in the morning. My treat!
They don’t have the Steak & Egg Bagels here anymore :frowning: and they were sooo freaking good.
I like the Sausage and Egg McMuffin - that’s pretty good.

I haven’t been eating at fast food places as much since I’ve been dieting, but sure, I like McDonald’s. I liked the Filet O’ Fish and the Big Mac.
I like their salads. I love that fruit and yogurt parfait.

Forgot to mention: We don’t have Jack-In-The-Box or In & Out Burger here on the East Coast, or at least where I live. Hardee’s are few and far between.

I’ve heard of In & Out Burger, and am very jealous. They sound wonderful.

They have Jack-In-The-Box’s all over Central NC now.

One theory of how they got there was that when Bank of America and Nation’s Bank merged a rich West-coaster or two came to NC, missed J-In-The-B and decided to buy a few. In any case, I wouldn’t think it out of hand that they might spread as far as MD someday.

In-N-Out, on the other hand, is NOT a franchise. Each and every store is owned by the same family, and therefore I doubt we’ll ever see an East Coast In-N-Out in our lifetimes.

McDonald’s fries are pretty much the only ones, of any franchise that I go to, that I don’t need to liven up by dipping them in ketchup.

Oh you poor dear!

Now I’m hardcore jonesing for a Steak & Egg bagel. (with tons of napkins, damn those things are MESSY!)
