Does anything really beat chocolate chip cookies?

I want to make a plate of biscuits (cookies) to bring into work next Monday. There’s around 20 people at my workplace. I’m thinking that chocolate chip would be the best all round crowd pleaser, but it doesn’t seem very Christmassy. I wouldn’t mind something more seasonal. Anyone got any suggestions, or a great recipe to share?

Have you tried these magic cookie bars made with graham crackers? My mom made them when I was young. We made them for our kids.

We only make them during the holidays because they are so rich. I bring them to the office party every year.

It’s like a brownie instead of your standard cookie.

Very easy. Takes about ten minutes to prep and get in the oven.

You could use green and red m&m’s instead of the chips.

Paper? Because it can wrap the cookies up?

Two chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream between them.

We’ve debated this issue before:

This is what I was going to say.

Also, if you have a candy store in your neck of the woods, you can buy M&Ms by the color. Rather than having to pick out the red and green ones from a bag.

Sugar cookies are a pale imitation of the greatness of tollhouse, but, they are good. Plus, they are great for the season.

You don’t have to decorate, just use acookie press to get the different shapes.

Bonus - they are perfect for dipping in milk.

I know it’s sacrilege, but my favorite cookies are chocolate chip cookies without the chocolate chips.

Please don’t kill me.

…and after you finish baking the cookies, you can just eat the bag of chocolate chips!

You can probably buy red & green M&Ms at your local grocery store.

Actually, fresh peanut butter cookies, still a little warm from the oven, beat chocolate chip cookies.

The thing is, I LOVE chocolate. I don’t eat much of it because I avoid caffeine, but I do love its taste. But in most CCC recipes, it’s just too much of a good thing.

aceplace57 did mention brownies…

Go buy a bag of Tollhouse Butterscotch Morsels and make Oatmeal Scotchies from the back of the bag. Not festive, but different. You won’t have any left over.

If you want to improve on the chocolate chip cookies, you can bake them with walnuts or macadamia nuts mixed in. (Although you should make some without that in case someone has a nut allergy.) I worked at a restaurant where we sold cookies we baked from a tub of dough we bought, and these were the richest, nicest cookies I had to that point in my life.

My son will eat nuts by the fistful. But he will NOT eat them if they are in cookies, candy bars or anything else.

Another way to make them richer is to use better quality chocolate than the Nestle Toll House chips.

Chocolate chip cookies really are the best cookies ever. You can’t go wrong with them. However, if you would like something more seasonal, how about gingerbread? Either classic gingerbread or gingerbread cookies.

Do Australians make the British style of Christmas cake? I don’t care for it but many people in the UK wouldn’t dream of celebrating Christmas without one.
